i have a 428xi coupe
i just ordered the coilovers bc wheel gap is massive and would also like a stiffer drive and less floaty drive. but now im looking to get wheels i daily drive the car so im looking for a square setup what size wheels should i go with? ive done quite a bit of research and ive concluded 18x8.5 et35 with either 225s or 235s size tires all around but i just feel like it’s not gonna look all that good does anyone have similar setups to this? there’s not much on the xdrive cars. my end goal is to have little wheel gap and still have a good daily driver without the car looking goofy

fyi, front of x-drives should not be lowered more than 38mm(1.5"). lowering past 38mm incrementally, starts unseating the axle from the front differential and increases possibility of failure from shear load. what coilover are you planning on?

tire size i'd use on 18x8.5 ET35 are

255/40/18(26.0") most grip, slightly beefy appearance, most curb protection
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...8&postcount=46

245/40/18(25.7"), more grip, nice profile on lowered cars
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...8&postcount=28

235/45/16(26.3"), best ride comfort, requires less lowering to reduce gap
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...35&postcount=6

if you haven't ordered the wheels yet, and interested in deepest concavity, consider 18x9.5 ET35 with 255/40/18 square
.

im going with ecs tuning coilovers, kinda the cheaper option. i haven’t ordered the wheels yet, will 18x9.5 et 35 square fit the front without rubbing or will i need spacers. and yeah ideally if i were to go with 18x8.5 i was gonna go with 235/45 to help close the wheel gap without having to lower the front as much. my local mechanic said that 18x8.5 would fit better but if i can get a more aggressive appearance with 18x9.5 that would be great too i just didn’t know it would fit the front?

with suspension components, especially coils, going cheap often has many problems associated with it, hope it works out nevertheless.

255/40/18 will be lightly stretched on 9.5". at ET35 the lip will poke slightly but tire shoulder will be flush due to the stretch and slight extra negative camber added from lowering. you will not need spacers.

thanks i hope so too, if the ecs coilovers don’t come out how i want then ill return them and get the b14s. but even with the 9.5s and 255s i wont have any rubbing in the front? that’s my biggest concern

mclovin69x had/has 255/40/18 on 9.5 ET35 up front without issue, however his iphotos do not work any longer.
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ght=mclovin69x

if you uneasy about the 255/9.5ET35 setup, then do 235/45/18 8.5ET35, this will be not be problem with 100% certainty.

fwiw, do you know the min lowering of the ecs coils? often times the min lowering spec is lower than max recommended for x-drive, just curious

here is the link for the coilovers i ordered, im not sure the minimum i was just hoping they would fit fine because there ecs brand on ecs tuning website that would be very misleading if they recommended them for my car and they didn’t fit lol, worst casanerio i will return them and get the b14s because of all the great reviews ive heard on them. but i appreciate all your help ive seen you on multiple of the forums helping people with there wheel setups and now i can confidently order them knowing they will fit. i will probably go with the 18x8.5 square with the 235s

i'm sure it will fit. i was referencing the lowering. i've seen guys with slammed x-drives, but i've also seen posts where half shafts snapped or popped out from being excessively lowered. just something to be aware of...

235/45/18 on 8.5ET35 sounds good. post pics after you get them

i should’ve just ordered them directly from the supplier instead of uro. i was thinking because uro is right here where i live it would have been better but now i have to wait for them to process a refund.

okay this just gets more confusing
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-vmr-part...CABEgKs1vD_BwE
i know i just said i need to buy from the supplier but on vmrs website these cost 800$ and on ecs there 670$ so im gonna obv get them from ecs if that’s the price difference but on ecs tuning it says they don’t fit my car but on uro turning where im not ordering them from says they do but vmrs actually website doesn’t have a vehicle check so what am i supposed to believe. i didn’t just pick these wheels out of no where btw it was between these and the aodhan ahx’s but this is just getting confusing will they fit my car even if i order the ones from ecs because uros guide says the will

not sure what you're looking at. when i went on ECS link you provided it says it fits, *shrugs. i know it will fit regardless.

fwiw, although the VMR710 is cheaper, it is also heavier since it is just low-pressure cast. personally, i'd pay $130 more for the aodhan which is flow formed and lighter.

yes. general gmax as-05, people have used it on here and all were positive reviews. don't just listen to me, though. please do your own research about them.

Discount Tire might be cheaper than the Priority price, idk.
