Hi shawnsheridan , I have been reading several threads and you are certainly a legend in this forum.

I’m currently driving a BMW F10 (523i) variant and I’m currently experiencing some issues with my car instrument cluster wherein only the speed gauge works and the rest of the gauges (fuel, rev meter, and oil temp) don’t.

My iDrive is showing me 4 faults, namely, ‘Vehicle Configuration Inconsistent’, ‘instrument cluster’, ‘cornering ability restricted’, and ‘SOS call system failure’. Apart from the unresponsive gauges, all else works fine with my car.

I went to a local workshop earlier today who helped me with coding, using ISTA and E-sys. They told me my CAFD file is corrupted. Specifically, the KOMBI CAFD file does not contain my vehicle VIN, hence the fault codes are appearing and my gauges within the cluster aren’t working. For the other folders like CAS etc., my VIN is present when you read CPS. But for my KOMBI, my VIN don’t show when CPS is read and it shows some gibberish symbols instead (see attached).

The guy mentioned that they can’t seem to code the KOMBI cluster as the system keeps kicking him out when he tries to patch the new CAFD data to the KOMBI folder. He suspects that my instrument cluster may have some short circuit issues. However, when they used the one diagnostic tool to test the rev meter, it moves and responds to the diagnostic tool executed commands.

Hence, I’m not too sure if it is really an instrument cluster hardware problem which they suspect or just a pure coding issue.

Thanks and grateful for any help or advice, Shawn.

I would program (flash) KOMBI with E-Sys.

Thanks, Shawn.

Are you able to elaborate what you mean by that? I really appreciate any help / advice that you can give.

Also, is it still possible to flash KOMBI if the KOMBI data is corrupted (KOMBI doesn’t recognise my VIN) like the image I sent in my previous posts?

Get a paid MEGA account for 10 Euro for 30 days.

Or try Megabasterd:

Size is way too small. GLOBAL_4.39.20.7z alone is 18.53 Gb.

No idea. If it can't be flashed, the car is broken in some way. Fix would depend on what's broke. Asking this is premature.
