F34 mods
Hey guys,
Thinking of going for a 2016 BMW 320D GT - i believe it's the equivalent of the 328D in the US. two things i want to ask: I am not a big fan of the tail lights on the GT and was wondering if anyone knows of any retrofits outside of the LCI tail lights? The F30 has an option for a full LED tail light which includes dynamic indicators, "welcome lights" etc .. Anyone of anything similar for the F34 ? Apart from the exterior mods, due to a different chassis, are most of modifications the same as for the F30's ? so for instance retrofitting a rear view camera, would i just go for the F30 version? same for retrofitting folding mirrors? Just go for F30 parts? |

I don't know if you can have dynamic indicators on non LCI taillights. If you choose to upgrade to LCI taillights you may be able to buy some sort of wiring kit to allow you to have dynamic blinkers. I installed "smoked" black dynamic turn indicator for the mirrors which fit both the f30 and f34.
I would assume that a f30 rear view camera would work fine as long as you do the proper coding for it. |

Do you not have automatic folding mirrors? I don't think you have to retrofit folding mirrors but you can use BimmerCode to code your mirrors to automatically fold when unlocking/locking car.

To keep taxes to a minimum, which is still extremely high, there are so many different setups choose from in Denmark and the base models never have any equipment of sorts .. so folding mirrors, cameras, navigation etc etc are all extras ..
The model I found has leather seats, PDC front and back, m sport steering wheel navigation and that’s about it .. and it’s still selling for the equivalent of 40.000 $ So I’m going to be adding some features .. NBT evo Folding mirrors 6WA cluster Reverse camera Alpine kit For starters |

Not sure if you're still looking for mods but I've been digging into the suspension comparisons between F30 and F34 a lot recently. From my research it would seem that the springs are the same aside from maybe the rates, so theoretically F30 aftermarket springs should fit. The shocks are different, with my theory being a higher spring perch to provide the inch higher ride height on the F34, suggesting one could also swap those out for an even lower ride... Currently waiting on a set of the H&R F34 sport springs myself. All of this is without any actual fitment checks so take it with a grain of salt.

I recently bought my 2015 GT and been spending time researching what I can change out. From what I am finding the F31 (wagon) springs are best choice which makes sense given the extra weight. OEM part numbers match up for both models. Might help with the spring rate question. H&R Sport Springs are in mind for my car. Going to step up from the 18" to 19" staggered rims. 19x8.5 ET 35 in front and 19x9.5 or 10 Et 43 in rear. I have a set of nice 20" rims that I got off a 550i but they are very aggressively offset for that car, not sure if I can use them on the 3 series GT.
So far I have only been able to change out the mirror indicators for smoked sequential LEDs, and ditched the chrome edged kidney grills for gloss black. I have a CF rear wing on the way to change out with the OEM wing. I am white with full black interior. Had the windows tinted last week and am considering do vinyl on the roof. I am interested in changing out headlights and taillights but it looks like were shite out of luck on those. Maybe custom jobs if price is ok.... |

Suggested mods
Hey All.
I'm new to the forum and am about to pickup a 2017 340i GT. Over the years I did several mods on my 2 E46's and was wanting suggestions as to the "must have" mods. Thanks. |

As a 6 yr old car I’d look into shocks if you’re lowering the car with H&Rs. You’ll need an alignment after lowering (at least the front toe will be iffy, likely camber may be out as well). Might as well get shocks done “while you’re in there”.
FWIW, I like Eibach pro kit springs, but I haven’t done them on the GT as I’m leasing it.

No, you remove the bolts to the oem spoiler and replace it with the cf duck spoiler. Very simple.

Did u buy from eBay? Is it from China? If so, how long for delivery? Is it perfectly flush? I also have a white one that I will be lowering on HR super sport springs adding 19" black wheels. So this wing will Compliment it well.

Sounds like you an I will have stormtrooper twins going on. I am still deciding between dark bronze or black rims though. I also went with all black badges. Last edited by Velocifero23; 08-04-2021 at 10:21 AM.. Reason: adding |

So they are both... actual roundels and a stick on emblem... confusing right. Basically it's the mount and the badge separate. I was installing it to come find out that the mount is actually different than the factory mount as far as how it mounts. I am not sure if all FXX are the same, but our car lacks the holes and grommets that the other emblems seem to have when replacing. Instead there are 2 small "pegs", more like bumps on the body and 2 voids on the back of the badge that line it up and a 3M double sided tape holding it on to our car. All the replacement badges I have seen available use the traditional "peg on the badge that goes into grommets on the body... So long story short, the badge is only stuck on top of the OEM, but they are metal and acrylic just like the OEM ones, just a stick on version. Until I can find better it'll just have to do. Not ideal, but again, it only cost me a couple bucks to do it. There are vinyl sticker kits from Turner that I considered, but I wanted to go black and surprisingly they don't offer black that I could find on the site. |

You do want to avoid Wish.com. It's not just about poor quality, they're also notorious for selling counterfeit goods. Knock-offs are one thing, but counterfeits are something else entirely.

I put the rotors from the later model F22 M235i/M240i on, dimpled and slotted with the aluminum hat, the ones I took off my 2014 335i GT were 1 piece which surprised me because I don't really know much of anything. I thought OEM was the 2 piece but that must have been later years, anyways, got rid of the vibration that was present on light braking at highway speed since I got it at 49k miles, at 70k miles the issue became pronounced. Old pads still had some surface but putting new pads in tomorrow, Brembo semi metallic. Figured this counted as a mod over posting a new thread. What came on it wasn't the 2 piece, that must have been later model years but the Bentley manual doesn't get into the specifics. I will update when the backs are swapped out with the PowerStop Z23 kit. Also the reviews were right, the Prestone DOT 4 brake fluid retains great pedal feel with the only real down side being the packaging looking jank. It feels just as good if not better than whatever the f*** was in it before I bought it at 49k, did that flush at the two year mark per the onboard computer at 69k last month. |
