Go with a flash tune like mhd or bootmod3
Jb4 is cool if you're stuck in warranty or there's no available flash tune for a car at the moment, which you're likely no longer in warranty, and the other isn't a concern either, flash it

It depends on the setup, both are great options

Cool thanks. Haven't heard much about MHD, which is better though?

Thanks Mike. What kinda setup will make JB4 a better option?

I'm might get a chargepipe and air intake soon

Chargepipe and intercooler would be better. The air intake will give you a bit more noise but no significant (or any) increase of power.

I’m going with Bootmod3 because it also has the trans tune that comes with it. That was the biggest selling point for me. I only plan on going stage 1 since this is a daily driver.

If I remember correctly bootmod3 trans tune is just to lift torque limiters on 3rd and 6th gear, for that, xhp is the way to go

Methanol injection
easier to create a custom map without the need of a custom tuner
additional fail safes that kicks the car back to map 0 if its running too lean or over boosting

Any good intercoolers you'd recommend?

Had plans to get one eventually but haven't really research much on intercoolers. Saw some good reviews on the CSF ones.

Didn't know about this, thanks Mike

Don't think I'll be getting the meth injection any soon, so might just stick to a flash tune.

JB4 or BM3

I think both is viable just depending on how much power you're making and what your needs are. For all I know people who run JB4 an BM3 use the JB4 as a boost controller and BM3 as just an all around tune.

If you are planning Stage1, pretty much any two step intercooler will do.
Even people testing the ebay one had decent results (mileage may vary).

I am sure that Mike will do a great job helping you choose an intercooler for your need and budget.

Tons of options on intercoolers but I heard that bm3 will have an intercooler option soon and I’m waiting to see how that turns out.

JB4 doesnt void the warranty if I am not mistaken, assuming your car is still under warranty

it can and will since the dme logs parameters and stores them. they may not see certain info but know that things are operating outside of the norms. so dealers can and will know if the systems look and they usually do. the software and hardware bmw uses now look for these things in order to find people who are doing this..

PTF have been teasing an intercooler for a while

if the Jb4 is uninstalled , the chances of it getting caught is close to 0% as proven by hundreds of thousands of users.

I personally went BM3, super simple to install and very quick. Support is great from vendor and easy install new map when you take it to stage 2 & 3. In regards to intercooler I've heard some good reviews on Evolution Racewerks.

F30 / N55 -- http://www.evolutionracewerks.com/catalog/191

WARNING: If you are running stock Charge Pipe you will probably blow that really quick. I updated my Bootmod3 Stage 1 and after 3 hard pulls the plastic Charge Pipe just broke immediately. I would upgrade your Charge Pipe before any of these options.

Congrats on bm3 and +1 on the charge pipe, changing it is a must
