F30 Wheel Fitment Cheat Sheet

Hey guys!

I'm kind of tired of people being "gate-keepers" for wheel-fitment, so I figured I'd give other forum-members an easy way out.

For reference, I have NO fender-work, stock camber arms, and on AirLift 3P suspension. I will be going to KW's this weekend so I'll modify this post as needed.

For each spec, play with camber as needed. For most of these I held -2.2 to -2.5 camber all around. Being on coilovers and air suspension is recommended just to get the right fitment.

My recommended tire is Achilles ATR Sport 2, some sizes offered may vary, I get mine from Walmart and Amazon. These tires stretch well, hold PSI, have good grip in both wet and dry conditions, and most importantly - they are CHEAP! However, relative to other tires, they are slightly stiffer and louder as you should expect from a tire from this price point. I've had 6 (soon to be 7) sets of wheels within the last 18-24 months and I have ran Achilles on all of them at one point.

Fender To Lip:

19x10 +10
19x11 +30

215/35/19
245/35/19

Aggressive (My Favorite Setup!):

19x9.5 +15
19x10.5 +35

235/35/19
265/30/19

Aggressive (Square):

19x10 +20

245/35/19

or

18x10 +25

255/40/18

Meaty Tire:

19 or 18x8.5 +35
19 or 18x9.5 +35

245/40/19 or 18
275/35/19 or 18

I hope this helps those looking for the "right" fitment. Adjust any sizes to your liking. If you are curious how the following sizes may fit or compare to your current wheels, click here! Any others with wheel/tire recommendations, feel free to reply.

NOTE: If you are on air suspension, take into account that your front air strut extends 15-20 mm passed the normal spring distance. In other words, running the meaty setup I mentioned prior may rub your bag and pop it (happened to me!). PM me on here or DM me on Instagram: @brandon_rramos so I can help you out!

Fyi, the achilles atr2 is a good tire if you’re just cruising, but if you plan to do some spirited driving they suck when it comes to steering feel and sidewall retardation, meaning your steering inputs take a fraction of a second for the front tires to react, and that killed it for me.

A comparison test of 20 consumer tires including Achilles using F30: https://www.thetirelab.com/autozeitu...20/225-50-r17/

No personal experience, but the results are similar to (few) other reviews I've seen so far - a poor tire even in its class and price level, and extremely bad performer in wet conditions.

If somebody can afford BMW, it should be no problem to pay a bit more for the proper tires - the only thing between us and the road...?

For me it worked well, actually better than Hankook Evo V12 and had about ~90% of the grip my BF Goodrich G-Force Comp-2, Michelin PSS, and Federal 595RS-RR. The only thing that I see as a con is the relative noise and the stiffness. Again, in my experience - I prefer the ATR Sport 2. I hooked in second gear when I was full bolt-on and on E30.

As far as steering inputs go, our cars have terrible steering unless you add a minimum of -2.2 camber up front. Give it a shot.

In my experience and my previous reply on this thread - I've spent $1100 on a set of tires just to have the similar performance as a $350 set of tires. Again, for the money I am personally very happy with it. The only real sacrifice is just road noise and ride quality.

There are better tires for sure, but I personally wear through tires every 6 months because I have a decent amount of negative camber so please keep that in mind (hence why I recommended this thread solely for those with coilovers and air suspension).

Sure, it's a personal preference; the most important to me is the wet performance combined with subjective wet handling. How long do your tires last with such negative camber?

Honestly, wet performance is good. Just as good as Hankook’s performance.

Tires last 6 months roughly, I drive spiritedly through the backroads at least 3 times a month too. I think around ~7.5k miles.

No tires are going to last when you run aggressive set ups with stretch, negative camber and lower profile.

Sorry to Hijack... But I'm looking for some wheel help! I've picked up a set of style 365's from a 5/6 series. I love them, and I love the look of them on the car and I love the ever so slight fit past the arch
View post on imgur.com

What I don't love is how high the car seems to sit with them on
View post on imgur.com
so my question is... what tyre size should I look for to A. reduce the arch gap and B.) minimise speedo inaccuracy. The tyres on them in the photos are 245/45/18 and as stock for the car, It came with 225/50/17 (2013 Sport(line)) but trying to figure out the correct tyre size is just blowing my mind

Getting coilovers is the best solution that'll mitigate both of your problems.

Great post!!

I found a great deal on a set of Avant Garde wheels with the following specs...

20x9.5 +25 (235/30)
20x10.5 +35 (255/30)

I'm sure it will take some work to make them fit but what am I looking at? Pulled fenders? Aftermarket control arms?

Currently lowered on Dinan springs but changing to coil overs this spring.

335x

Any help appreciated! Thanks!

Good specs but not good for AWD. Regardless of what other forum members say - always stick to square setups if you are AWD.

I've had too many friends destroy their axles regardless of miles and how close to spec they were.

I would do 20x9.5 +25 square with a 245/35/20. With springs, you should not need any fender work, arms, or anything like that. Maybe just a good alignment to have it sit flush.

I installed my KW's this morning and I picked up my Advan GT's a few hours ago, I'll provide a test fit picture of how it'll look on stock-ish camber.

Coilovers will do nothing for speedo accuracy if the rolling diameter is wrong.

Willing to share more details? What happened to their axles?

Personally, I much prefer staggered setups and have no issues. Using three sets of different staggered wheels/tires (1 winter, 2 summer), while I sold my only square set after few months of use.

No one of my friends has any issues with xdrive. In fact, one of them already passed 250,000 miles on staggered with no single issue with xdrive...

2nd the notion to see or hear of cases where within the 1% axles were messed up.

I have had two friends with F30's that within 30 minutes of driving after initially mounting the staggered set, their front axles gave out (65k miles and 98k miles).
