On a lease payment both models are around the same monthly. I personally wouldnt choose to buy a car >50k and would rather keep getting new models every few years. Also get bored of cars every couple years so for me its a great option. Ppl lease gt3's only to track them and return them with very low mileage around here.

And...the 335 IS a faster car than a 328 but like i said earlier, that doesnt automatically make YOU the driver faster. Gotta learn how to drive first. Ive seen grandmas in porsches and ferraris driving super slow thinking WHAT THE?! GET OUT OF THE WAY!! Lol. Only in beverly hills. Sad story.

I thought of another way to look at it. I don't have a badge on my car to advertise that I spent $500 on the 2TB sport auto or $1450 for leather - why would I care to have a badge on my car to advertise I spent $4600 on an additional 60 hp? By not having an Active Cruise Control badge will people think I'm trying to hide the fact that I didn't spring $2400 for that option?

(Above scenario for illustrative purposes only, since I actually got the 2.0T. The inline six for $4600 wasn't worth it to me, just like AAC for $2400 wasn't worth it to me either.)

I am keeping the window tag on the rear window to show all of that and also to show that I spent more than a 335i for a 328i.

i guess I don't get the point of it, the 328i is still faster than most cars on the road, and I would assume anyone that sees a de-badged car just assumes its the lower powered one anyway (or someone trying to make people think its a 5 series), so whats the point?

I know some people just like the look of the rear without the labels but the number badges are tradition and makes a trunk look too bare without them.

The only badge I am thinking of taking off is the xdrive one on the rear, its so out of place, no clue why they went back to putting it on the rear, looked much better on the sides, or just as 335xi (drop the hole xdrive).
Yes.

By some of the logic in this thread, a loaded 328i is a lesser car than a base 335i just because of the engine.

I somewhat agree with your statement. BUT, I will admit that.....I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN A F30 328. (My wife will now respond and tell me I should shut up.) Sorry

Even though I bought it" "And don't make me keep posting comments to defend myself.".......He should just delete his account. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

A loaded 328i is always a greater car than a base 335i.

We live in America. Top speed on American roads is 80 if you're lucky, usually stuck behind someone doing 70, spend more than half our time on local roads doing 40.

The primary purpose of a 3 Series is to be a luxurious status-symbol that gets its wealthy owners from Point A to Point B in style.

It ain't no sportscar. Never was, in fact. It's bigger, softer, less connected, quieter, loftier. The 335i is a fish-out-of-water. A carryover from what the 3 Series used to be for those who can't move on.

I de-Badged my M3 when I first got it. I hate garnish and I know its an M , so who cares. To me ,all cars look better without badges. But then I had second thoughts and but some badges back on,,,,328 badges. In the 3 months I left them on I had 1 person ask me if that was the best fake M3 he's seen or if I was just having fun screwing with people.

That's funny.

One forum member would argue you improved your M3 to a luxury level status because all that M3 sportiness is useless and a waste.

This morning I woke up and realised I don't.

And I realised I have a 335i instead of the KING*, the 328i. Stupid me!

I also realised I live about 40 minutes driving from the German border.

Come to think of it, after reading all this Cadillac ATS being crap ,crap on a different thread. I think I'll swing down to the Cadillac dealership and get a 2 crests to slap prominently on the front & back of my newest BMW.

Only for those who are attempting to make up for their low self esteem and other shortcomings. Very much like those who continuously reassert themselves in an effort to make them feel less feeble and meek.

And one needn't be wealthy to drive a 3 Series. Until the introduction of the 1 Series, the 3 Series was the lowliest of models you could purchase from BMW. You generally aren't going to impress anyone when you drive the absolute cheapest model available. But that's the great thing about most BMW enthusiasts. They are accepting of everyone who shares their loyalty to the marque - regardless of series or model.

With respect to the sporting nature of the 3 Series, I'm beginning to think you are a fish out of water in a BMW. I think you would be much happier in a Lexus or M-B. An M-B will take you much further in your quest for the illusion of a higher station in life than a BMW ever will. BMW is an enthusiast brand whereas M-B is meant to cater to the egocentric wealthy car-as-appliance types. You know, the ones who boast about how well off they are and fill up their signatures with references to said "wealth".

Thanks, Dr. Freud.

Don't believe what you read in discussion forums. Use your eyes on the city streets, look at the people driving 3 Series. Balding middle managers and their wives dropping little Bobby off at private school. There are 100,000 normal owners for every 1 of you so-called "enthusiasts".

Do not blame us because you are lost in 1995 when the 3 Series was a small, entry-level performance car. Today, it's a larger, softer $50,000 imported luxury car for 48 year old wealthy elitists, not some ricer to drive illegally in residential neighborhoods.

The person driving the wrong car is you.

Ah, the internet. Doesn't matter which forum you post on, inevitably we get to something like this - but man is it entertaining!

I will probably debadge my 328 one of these days, purely because I prefer going commando. That said, anyone who cares would note the exhaust and realize it was the 'lowly' 4cyl, and anyone who doesn't would say "what a pretty blue car."

As far as a 3-series being entry level or cheap, it's a little bit of both if you compare it to the rest of the BMW family. Generally speaking though, if one were truly trying to impress others, they'd take the $45k+ they were going to spend on a 3, and buy a CPO 745. I debated for a while on my next car, and elected to stick with the 2.0 328 for economy and simplicity, as I drive a fair amount for work/vacations, and I prefer to work on my own cars (once the warranty/service contract runs out). Could I have bought a 335? Sure, and they're fantastic cars, but not for me.

Seems like a pretty simple situation to me.
