Do DMS update the sports dial figures as part of the remap given the increase in power and torque over standard / MPPSK?

They can, but advise you don't. As it's a sign of a remap. Your choice of course.

I think that's not the only tell as you're giving the engine a whole new set of parameters that are recorded.

But it's a classic example of an industry that tries to hide what it does and make others pay for the consequences.

It's a quick sign though isn't it that something is wrong.
Sneaky yes.
Sensible yes

One thing to note is that I can now get the bhp to read full scale at 400 now quite easily so the meter does know

I'm surprised by this, when I had the 330d remapped the sports dials weren't changed and they read exactly the same as before.

Is the throttle mapping changed when doing a remap? I guess that could affect the dials if it's reliant on throttle position as one of the variables?

What did you declare to the Insurance company? Or not? Did policy increase?

M240i with minor mods but stock DP with bluespark tuning box made 428bhp and a similar amount of torque - dyno below taken from BB thread in the link underneath

https://babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic....13203#p1427282

Makes DMS remap claims more tangible ??

Your dyno plot shows great gains higher up but torque figure is way below DMS' claimed 480lbft on FB.....

I have asked DMS about recalibration of the sports dials, they are looking into it.

Sure does. My car showed a lot higher than normal higher up but the torque gains were not what they expected.

They were flummoxed by that and said I was welcome to go back with better fuel (Asda cheap stuff was being used) and see if that fixed it up.

They dont do any modules to control it, its a case of have the map and leave.

Put some SVP or TM99 in the tank and go back and get it tweaked - ho-hum fuel can derail n55/b58 DME.

Understood.

DMS were very clear that they dont like Tesco Momentum 99 and told me to go back with V-Power. They said the same to Jay.

Interesting statement about Tesco 99. Wonder why they dont like it.
Its what I use for 2 reasons.
1) Its more accessible in my area.
2) Its cheaper than local Shell by around 5p

They claim it screwed up one of their cars and they've had people come back other times with Vpower instead of momentum and it's given better results.

The cleaning additives in vpower are proven to be better - even on the impartial tests paid for by Tesco.

I wont run it often and I'll still fill up with asda cheap stuff when I can't be bothered to go to Tesco. If I can hit those numbers running crap fuel why do I need to worry (apart from the cleaning additives)

Here's my results from Saturday. Before and after Dynos,

The pre run dyno was higher than I expected, however the post dyno was quite a bit lower than Chris's

The only mods that would have any kind of impact was the Pipercross filter (now removed and back to oem) and the Remus cat back system.

Some suggestions for the lower numbers, dirty airflow sensor? Tesco momentum fuel? my car only has 8k miles on it? Who knows?

The car is quick there is no doubt about that. It certainly pulls a lot stronger especially in the midrange.

Jay,

Lower power maybe but your torque curve [shape and peak] is noticeably better than Chris' TBF. No wonder yrs feels quick with more mid range and Chris felt like his had not changed too much from low to mid range.

I used to use TM99 from my local Tescos as JB4'd m135i thrived on the higher octane. Jb4 datalogs showed up fuel quality, by avg ign adv esp. However, TM99 started being inconsistent.

Shell went from VP to VP Nitro and they seemed to up the octane. From my Jb4 datalogs, it was comparable with better TM99 with SVPN being way more consistent so switched to Shell.

Thanks for you replies mate. I'm currently running the TM out and will be putting some shell in very soon. The plan is to retest at some point.
