35% is PERFECT if you have black interior. You may want a touch darker if your interior is Tan or Grey.

I do have a completely black interior, and I was thinking 30%-35%. Do you have your windows tinted at 35%? If so, could you post some pics? I've seen a bunch but the range of lighting makes it kind of difficult to tell what it really looks like. My theory is: I'm paying to get the windows tinted to make them darker and more attractive obviously, so I don't want to go too light and be kicking myself later for it not being dark enough, but I also want to be reasonable... Either way, just made the appointment for Monday morning, so I have a week or so to decide. I'll post some pics up here when it's done.

I have 15% rear & 35% front with black interior & black headliner. Here it is in different lightings for comparison.

First wash job. Wash, clay, and wax. Man, did it need that! The paint felt like sandpaper in spots!

Awesome, exactly the pics I was looking for. Thank for posting. The fronts look perfect. Looks like 35% is about right for me.

I went with 15%, definitely on the darker side. Looks really cool, the sacrifice is more limited night time visibility

Mine are 35% which is legal limit in PA - not sure about NJ.... I thought about blinds for the rears, but 35 isn't bad in these parts!

That's the one thing I'm wondering about. crogers or MSCD do you have any issues seeing out at night?

No problem seeing at night, I don't even have to roll my windows down to parallel park, which is nice. But I'm probably going to 15% in the front soon.

No tint allowed on the fronts in NJ unfortunately. I'm at school in PA for a lot of the year though, and when I'm home in NJ it's primarily over the summer when the windows will be down anyway. But for the 2 or so months I'm home in the winter, I might just have to roll em down when there's police around lol. Also won't pass inspection which is a bummer, so I guess I'll have to have the fronts re-done every 2 years

Yeah shame - state laws are crazy... I can drive my PA car to NY with tints! All that should be federal!

I wasn't aware the NJ inspection stations where that thorough! Could probably leave the windows down there too! I guess different locations vary!

All that should be unregulated! I kid, but as long as the tint is not an impediment to visibility, I don't think it should be illegal. Maybe nothing darker than 35% in the front...

Also, my Dad is telling me I won't pass with tints on the front, a couple friends are saying it's fine, and the internet is inconclusive. I guess I'll find out.

Sidenote: according to this https://www.tinting-laws.com/pennsylvania/ 70% is the legal limit on the front in PA while anything flies in the back, but according to this http://www.dot.state.pa.us/public/dv...ets/fs-sun.pdf 70% is the limit in the rear. Why can't I find anything conclusive I've found multiple sites that say nothing is legal on the front in NJ, but a bunch of different sites vary for the laws in PA.

EDIT: Friend said he passed NJ inspection with 35% tints on the front in two different vehicles, one of which didn't even have a front plate. So I'm thinking I'll pass, even though google disagrees.

It definitely isn't horrible or impossible, and a huge factor is the quality of the film... however, anybody that says you will not be affected at all at night with anything 20% or lower is lying to you. Sometimes I miss having the lovely visibility from not tinted windows, but the sun protection, privacy, and aesthetic all make it worth it to me

Thanks for the input. Yah, I would assume that 20% or lower would pose some problems, that's why I'm going for 35%. I want it to look as dark as possible without being a cop magnet and maintaining the benefit of sight when driving lol.

No problems with seeing out at night... it is darker inside! Reversing near a curb was questionable, but coded the door lights in reverse and all good.
