Especially since I was pretty sure I already knew what was up. Oh well love my car and it’s running great!

Agreed, my 340 happens to reside in one of the most expensive parts of the United States. The local dealer wants $250 for an oil change. They said it was a special. Oh the pain

Sorry to reply after 5+ years but my 2012 F30 335i with N55 has started doing something very similar. After locking the car, the coolant pump starts running continuously until the battery is flat. If I lock the car again, the pump stops... then starts after 1 minute, and runs continuously.

Would you happen to have the part number/s for the parts that were replaced and that fixed the problem? I can see an ebay listing for part 11518635090 (eBay item number:185848121079, May 2023) but the photos suggest this is a "dumb" pump, with no logic controls. I'm hesitant to order it because I know the current pump physically works - I can see coolant being squirted into the expansion tank. Before spending money on the part and mechanic's labour to install it, I'm hoping for confirmation of exactly what part or parts made the difference in resolving your problem.

jhelweg If you're willing to go digging through your receipts from 6 years ago I would really appreciate it.
