I got one letter about it two weeks before the warranty expired, so compared to the usual barrage of emails about special never-to-be-repeated events and new launches, it seemed a bit low key.

In theory, yes, for me, no - they hadn't passed my contact details to Allianz who administer it...

Before i changed cars BMW sent a letter regarding the warranty then had a phone call to ask if i wanted it & what was involved etc. I would have taken it had i not got rid of the car

Should have been clearer - it was rear wheel bearings and they should last the lifetime of the car. I would definitely have argued if they had tried it on - never replaced them on any other car. There was no play in mine they just became noisy.
