So handover day today. I love picking up new cars, nothing beats it.
It was a sad day to see the 330d inspected by the bca rep before going back. One minor dink on the bonnet noted on the record, listed as a £16 fee, potentially if bmw want to bother charging it. Who can get a pdr repair done for that price. It seams that it is definitely not worth paying for repairs before sending back.

Anyhooo, picked up the new beast. I'll be honest, MG was not the first, second or third colour I would have chose given free choice, but in the flesh it looks pretty sweet and it has already received plenty of positive comments.

I've got it booked in for a proper new car detail next weekend, so more pictures to follow, but I've uploaded a couple anyway.
I will say that the dealership out did themselves this time. Water marks on the wheels, white polish marks over on the trim, I even had some white marks on the bonnet that I was sure were scratches, only to find that they were beads of polish not buffed off. I know the car was moved inside to a rather shady area last night due to yesterday's inclement weather, but even so a new car should be prepared as such, with immaculate paint and wheels.
I suppose I should be grateful the knuckle draggers didn't spend too long on the paintwork, as they would no doubt have caused more damage than good.

The last picture I found amusing so thought it worth sharing in case anyone is worried about the economy

I must admit to driving around with the window down more today than I ever did in the derv drinker. Such a lovely sound. Worth the 7.7 mpg....

Nice. I too wasn’t fussed about MG but now I have one I think it’s a lovely colour, shines nicely and hides dirt well

We were talking numbers again (based on 1.9%) after I test drove one in carbon black and I mentioned that I had seen on some other dealers website that bmw were offering 0% on 4 series so asked him whether this was available. He confirmed it was, but that it was a May impulse offer, only available for cars registered in May. If I waited for one to be built exactly to my spec, we would have been looking at end of June, more likely July for delivery.
So he went looking at what cars that were already coming through the system, built with a spec sheet as close to the one I wanted as possible (has a April 2018 build date on the bottom of the drivers door pillar). This was the only one close (missing ext. storage vs my list of required options). Apparently there are not that many 440i's ordered for the crack. Loads of 420d's to choose from if anyone wanted one... :
There were a couple of cars available in my top preferred colours that were carrying another £3k in options, but that was adding over £70 to the monthlies so budget busting for me sadly.

So in the end I had a decision to make around the car colour. By going for MG I had access to the 0% May offer which was worth a saving of £57 per month. Not to be sniffed, and worth the compromise for me. In the flesh shining in the afternoon sun, it looked mean. In the drab morning gloom, mg does become a bit meh, but so do a number of other colours for that matter. EB looked great in all weather, but wouldn't have two cars the same colour in a row.

I like the colour.

Engine the engine...as it loosens up it just gets better and better! My M40 seems to have got a bit noisier as well!

Superb choice sir. If I were in the market right now a variety of 440 would be hard to ignore.

Enjoy the detailing next weekend

That looks amazing enjoy!!

I picked mine up yesterday and WOW.....the refinement of that 440i engine is out of this world. My 430d seems like a tractor in comparison but I would rave about how good the diesel was.

I'm actually chopping in my 8 months old M140i for a 420d GC taking advantage of the 0% offer which will swallow my negative equity. I've had 3 330d and now the M140 so I feel I scratched that high(ish) performance scratch which has worn off by now as well as getting bored of 20mpg I just look forward to a calm comfortable everyday drive without spending as much money on fuel as my monthly on the car.

Surely the negative equity hit outweighs the minor fuel savings? Not a move id be making but each to their own.

Nice car, congratulations! MG can look a bit drab in photos, but I find in various lights it can look superb. I gave mine a wash and wax last week and under the setting sunlight it gave off a kind of bronze hue, looked great. Equally in bright sunlight and at night it gives off some nice shades.

Congrats and enjoy the new car
I came from an F31 330d and tbh, love both engines
Am getting the mppsk fitted in June which should give the petrol the edge

It cost me an extra £40 a month to have the GC a full tank last me 5days but it's probably more about not enjoying the 140 anymore it sounds great and goes like mad but at the same time a frustrating drive as you're always look for opportunities to overtake or flooring it otherwise what's the point having it and constantly looking out for speed cameras etc. A great weekend car sure but not an everyday family car hence the 4GC.

Lovely choice it looks great. Funny enough iv got a mg 435d GC that (long story) I didn't chose the colour on and to be fair it would of been my last choice but I had to get it before the tax changes. After owning it for over a year iv grown to love it although it does need to be kept clean weekly for it to look its best otherwise it can look a bit drab especially on a grey day. It's understated yet sharp at the same time and think it suits the GC very well. Enjoy
