Is it this feature that allows you to view your text messages and email on the idrive?
BMW Assist is basically onstar, and enhanced Bluetooth allows you to stream music from your phone without plugging it in.
So what feature allows me to see my email and text messages on the screen (iDrive)???

You know you need drive assist for that app right to work right? Your dealer has to set up the account and give you a pass/pin.

Apps/connected drive is pretty neat too. Completely unnecessary, but just good fun. My poor friends have to get FB updates about what i'm doing in my new bimmer. These features have nothing to do with driving, but it adds to the uniquness of the product....and general enjoyment of it.
Excellent! I can hardly wait to get my car to play with it. They tell me I should have it within a week.

No iphone or ipad??? dude how do u live

No climate functions, but door locks, flash lights, honk horn, amount of gas in tank/range, avg consuption etc.....and the coolest is realtime location of the car on google maps. You always know exactly where the car is. This will be great when I finally let the wife take that car....which will likely be never...

Hmm... so basically the only advantage over the key fob is the Google maps location.

Would have been neat if you could air the car out on a hot day or something. I know that there's a scheduled setting in iDrive to do this, but that requires forethought.

Maybe that's apps? Not sure.....and this is a question I have wanted an answer to as well. Most sales guys aren't even sure.

I think that the compatibility for texts and emails is iPhone exclusive and you need the cradle in the centre console which is also iPhone proprietary

So I think enhanced gets you BMW Assist, which isn't really a bluetooth-related item. You get music streaming, which is a bluetooth feature. And, you get an iPhone cradle with is not bluetooth related either, but gives you more features.

I might be wrong, but that is the best understanding I have at this point.

I suspect it's one of the following 2:

(i) BMW Online* - provides access to online services (e-mail, customized portals for news, weather etc., and Google Maps); or
(ii) BMW Live - enables access to selected online content via the active Bluetooth data connection to your mobile phone.

* May not be available in all countries. Please consult your BMW partner.

This is copied from "The New BMW 3 Series Saloon" brochure. My sales executive told me I can connect my Blackberry to the car via [BMW Live - I think! If I remember correctly] and have my emails and SMSes (text messages) read out to me.

So BMW Online is an App that requires BMW Apps, correct?

I just want to make sure I get the correct feature and not miss out on anything!

I think the cradle is extra if you mean the snap-in adapter.

Just talked to BMW of Mississauga as well, on an 328i Sportline. Was able to get it for $1000 over invoice. Did it all via emails as well, no hassle, really easy.

So what is the price if it's 1000 over invoice, and with what options?

Seeing as you're in Vic, are you gonna buy from the GTA?

$1000 over invoice is how much % off MSRP? Just a rough % idea (6%, 7% or less)...

Here's what I got off of unhaggle.com. This is for Canada. Base vehicule price refers to Luxury or Modern with Sport as an option. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of those numbers.

PS: First post. Hey, there!

Sorry, my signature says Victoria but I've recently moved to Toronto

Invoice price is $40,110 on the base 328i, with no options. The only options I wanted on my 328i was the Sportline package, which brought the total invoice pricing to $41,490. I also signed up with unhaggle to get the invoice numbers (they are also posted in various places on this forum, so it was quite helpful to do a search), which I then used as a basis for negotiations.

All said, the dealer quoted me $42,490 + taxes.

With the 328i spec'd the way I wanted, MSRP was $45,100. This represents a 6% savings from MSRP. Also, my dealer didn't have the car on the lot, so they would need to order it in.

That's cool! I managed to get two quotes; one was 6.5% and the other was 7% off MSRP which is not bad.

So are you leasing? What's your monthly payments like? I'm planning on doing a lease so just seeing what people have gotten...

Wow... you managed 6.5 - 7% off MSRP from haggling with the salesperson? Which dealership?

Yup!

I learned negotiation skills from my Dad!

Honestly speaking, you can try any dealer here in Ontario and they ALL are willing to work with you.

I also went with a 328i so it's not like I went with the 335i and they gave me the discount.

I haven't ordered anything because I'm still thinking whether I want/need BMW Apps or even the BMW Assist because I don't see any benefits at all...

Very impressive! Did you mention what invoice pricing was in order to get that discount? Also, were you able to do it over email or did you have to spend any time face to face at the dealership?
