Not so luckyb: incorrect fluid counter

Just got home to Florida from a 500 mile trip.
About half way home I got the incorrect fluid counter.
Made the decision to drive home and to stay aware not to turn the car off
I haven't tried to start it since I shut it off. At 0 miles

Did a short amount of research on the drive:
Looks like a tune/delete or go on the dealership dollar ride are my only two options. Please correct if I'm wrong.

Doesn't look like Kerma could help seeing that they want you to not delete

I was looking at the rawtech kit with the tunezilla for about $2k here https://www.rawtekinc.com/products/b...39654405111854

Probably be another $1k for the labor.

I was thinking about flushing the system but wondering since I already went past the countdown if that would even help now.

Any insight?

Haven't worked on my diesel in a minute but if you have other codes indicating bad NOX sensors:

I imagine you are past the 10/120k extended NOX sensor warranty.

And this kinda crap is why I did the delete. I'm not trying to kill Bambi, but when manufacturers stick a bunch of unreliable and overpriced parts onto a car, it's only rational to expect people to rip them out. If you get that kit I would probably recommend not getting the resonator. I did the cat which I'm ambivalent about, but I don't get much drone noise. It's actually pretty quiet for the most part- louder than stock but not by a whole lot, and its a low rumble type sound.

The DEF system has nothing to do with the DPF system, so you're spending money on a delete that doesn't apply. Send me a PM with error code reads and more details, maybe there's a way to revive it easier.

The kit listed says def/dpf

Do you still think it's not helpful?

I would send codes but I didn't waste any time. Kit purchased and at the shop

I went with the resonator no cat.

We'll see how it goes.

Agree. Incorrect fluid code probably means the delivery unit failed or there is a leak in the system.

I also received the "incorrect fluid - no start" countdown message earlier this year. The codes stored indicated one or more NOx sensors were bad. It is rarely the fluid is actually bad. Always some part or component failure.

In my case, I took it to dealer. They replaced both NOx sensors under the BMW warranty they extended to 120K just for the sensors. Still didn't fix issue, so they replaced the Catalytic Converter, which solved the issue. The Cat was not covered under warranty (car is a 2014 with 112K miles) and was not cheap. Around $3K

Fortunately I'm no longer under warranty. Hopefully the delete and tune fix the issue.

Update:

Car has been at the shop since the first of September or so.

Went with this kit https://www.rawtekinc.com/products/b...delete-exhaust

Mechanic wanted to use his own tuner instead of Tunezilla.

Apparently they are doing some fine tuning and had to send the ECU going back and forth.

Don't know much about tuning but once it's done and say I want to switch to another tuner, how hard is it?
