_das_bae_ "Betty" Sparkling Brown Metallic Build/Gallery Thread

Hello all, long time lurker and commenter here. I know there are not too many BMWs out there with this paint color so I wanted to make a thread so that people know why it is so special to me. I got this car just under two years ago after trading up from my E92 335i and immediately started modifying the car. I am not the original owner of the car as there was one before me, but it was spec'd out with some unique options like the Individual Paint. I never made a thread or posted much of the things I changed on the car but I figured now is as good a time as any to show the progress. Enjoy!

Black Betty "Betty" aka @_das_bae_ got her name from a unique paint color that appears black unless the Sun reveals the metallic flake. Having a rare paint color prompted a particular color choice for the wheels to be refinished in. Just like the paint on the body, the wheels also need full sunlight to reveal their true color. This build is nothing super fancy and is going for the OEM+ look.

It was a long process of choosing wheel colors and seeing what it looked like virtually before I pulled the trigger. Thank you!

Thank you!

The plate is mounted with a tow hook (cause I didn't want to drill into my bumper) that sticks out about a half inch further than the parking sensor so the only solution is to tilt it up slightly so the shadow doesn't make the sensor go off (while in reverse), or get the U.S. Mill plate holder that sits a little closer.

There is a place that sells a magnetic kit, I imagine you put something on the back of the plate (to protect the paint) and then fit the magnets to the inside of the bumper. refit plate in the middle, neatness and symmetry balance.

I've seen the magnetic plate thing people have ran but wasn't really a fan. The symmetry doesn't bother me all that much to be honest. I'd honestly rather run no plate here in Cali if the CHiPs weren't around. I've also seen people do the Vinyl plate stickers up front but I feel like in the sun it will be too much contrast against the brown in the middle. My original bumper had it in the center. Thanks for the suggestion tho!
