There are 2 ways to enable Sport Auto Transmission through coding. the easiest way is:
1) changing 205 to 2TB. For whatever reason or another I found that to be a little more difficult than the route I decided to take: 2) updating 3-4 parameters in the transmission ECU (yields same result as #1) I wish this thread came out earlier i really wanted to do this, but i only have a few more months left on my lease...not worth it now (price is just under $700)

If you have 205, you don't have sport trans coding. |

Thanks guys now situation is cleared in my mind.
And a last question that maybe helps also the tutorial. Are these above 3 orders enough to fdl code SAT or there are some more ? Can somebody clarify which are the correct ones via fdl coding ? |

Without tearing your console apart to check, how would you be able to tell which shifter you need as there are two different ones available, a 7-pin and a 10-pin?

On RealOEM.com, I thought you could input your VIN, I wonder if we could cross-reference the non-sport shifter variant. Does that site list that level of detail? |

Ok so I found a reasonably priced shifter but my I-Level is older than what is listed in thread as a requirement. The dealer said they won't/can't do a update unless there is a malfunction or new hardware is added.
If I was to install the newer shifter with the car the way it is now would I still be able to drive the car and have the I-Level updated later?

Does this mean my I-Level is the first number and the update is the one under it?

When you performed the coding procedure, how did you ensure sufficient power was provided? Are you using a battery charger or kept the car running?
I have read on the forums that ECU only coding can be done while the car is running, however this seems risky... Thank you in advance. |

You will want a power supply/charger for a full flash. http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1204244 has discussed this a bit. |

Thank you for the link. Can you recommend a battery charger of a decent price? I have trickle charger but based on the forums looks like it's not appropriate.

The others require workarounds to work. Even a CTEK MUS 25000 that can supply a constant 25A @ 12V may not have a high enough voltage and even if it did, 25A may not be enough for long flashes. For example, I was using a charger that could do 60A but you may see a voltage > 16.0V when there was no load on the system. |

Thank you for the detail. sounds like that the charger option is delicate balance; would finding a second car as a power source, presented as an alternative, be something that you'd recommend?
