Et42 vs et 31

Can anyone tell me why most track wheels are et42 instead of et30? I like the concave look, but wasn't sure if there are benefits to et42 or downsides to et30 for track purposes.

easier to deal with fitment on et42...ultimately allowing the widest possible tire to fit in the wheel well.

I agree that the et31 looks better, more aggressive...

You think 245 rubber on a 9" et30 be a concern of rubbing during super hard corner since it would sit more flush under the fender? I don't think it would be, but wanted to check.

no it won't rub. the stock wheels are 225 on 8" and there's boatload of clearance. Ive raced on a 245 and there was zero rubbing...keep in mind I was on coilovers so stiffness helps. i also ran a lower aspect ratio to help with clearance but it was never an issue.

I ran a 255 on stock suspension and there was no rubbing there either. i used a 34et wheel with 3mm spacers all round and there was no rubbing.

if your suspension setup allows, I would consider running a 255 with et30 assuming you have provisions to adjust camber, especially in the front.
