No, it will not break. Installation instructions can be found at the link below but the unit is just zip tied to existing harness where it suits you.

Nope. Works on 91 and up just fine but will just have slightly lower gains is all.
What gas is suggested for best performance?

what about mixing in e85? as I check in ISTA putting 15-20% of e85 increases multiplicative adaptation values, so AFR should be probably ok, what about power ?

Never mess with E85 so I couldn't tell you.

Do you know if the tune is out of stock or on back order?

No backlog but we are getting close to running out of our initial run already. I have 15 units in the system that didn't make it to be shipped before UPS picked up but everything else has shipped that has sold.

I have to use my cell phone to change settings on the app, that's asking for a ticket on normal street.

As per Dinan website, the tuner has multiple settings. But I can't find in any part of description information about settings. What different between Sport, Sport+ vs Race? What other settings can be change or adjust by application?

Will the hp gain from this tune be affected by a larger intercooler? I have a Wagner IC.

Valet is -3PSI, Stock is stock, Sport is +2 PSI, Sport+ is +3 PSI, and Race is +4 PSI.

No. Not directly. The tune will not optimize to various mods. Its simply a set boost controller. That said the addition of the intercooler will help cooling properties and then make the mid / upper rev range potentially more efficient so that same amount of boost increase may net you some slight increases in power.

Can the Race setting be safely used with CA 91 octane gas?

Can it be used, yes. But there are a bunch of conditions that may affect the drivability with 91 on that setting. We ship the units in Sport+ / advertise numbers in Sport+ just because no matter the octane and mods that will work just fine no matter the conditions. The fact of the matter is not all 91 octane fuels are created equal and not all cars have the same tolerances so ultimately I would recommend keeping it in the sport+ setting when running 91 but you may find your vehicle works fine with no issues in the higher boost. You are free to try the higher stage though and if you don't like the way it feels you can simply dial back the power a bit.

It will be interesting changing power levels with the phone. Actually for me to accomplish that i need to turn the racechip nob to the left.

For race setting +4 psi, the only recommendation is 93 gas? Or need exhaust and intake? Intercooler?

Again, not all cars are created equal so there is a chance that you may want an additional piece to help the car out but all of the test cars thus far have ran fine in race mode with at least 93 octane and everything else being stock.

Just out of curiosity since Dinan is in California. Why test with 93 when there is only 91 available here?

Because 93 is the premium fuel that is available in the majority of the country.

A lot of states only have 93 in select gas stations. However, I feel it should be tested with 91 since a large percentage of Dinan buyers are in CA as well as the fact that you guys should be testing with gas local to you.

Will this unit void the factory warranty? Will the dealer be able to detect if removed before maintenance?

Warranty is not like a typical Dinan product. This unit only holds a 1 year product warranty. Essentially a defect and craftmanship warranty.

As far as detection and the factory warranty.... I will copy a response I did in another thread to save some time...

None of these devices are completely invisible. They all leave bread crumbs that can be deciphered to indicate a tune was on the vehicle. Anyone that tells you otherwise is lying to you. That said, the methods to get down to the information needed to see that level of detail are pretty extensive and the dealership itself with the limited resources on hand most likely will not be able to tell anything if the various devices are removed. The problem comes in on major repairs where PUMA is called in. On anything that's a major warranty claim, engine/tranny/etc, the dealerships are required to have a field technician come out and diagnose (BMW doesn't want to pay a big warranty claim if they can avoid it so these guys are there to ensure its legitimate). These individuals have much more sophisticated tools at their disposal that can dig further into the system to extract data which indicates a tune was used. These are advanced cars after all and equipped with the equivalent of a black box that logs nearly everything the car is doing at all times.

BMW would still, by law, have to prove that the tune is the cause of the failure but the reality is if they choose to deny the claim you would still be the one that would have to start the litigation process to fight that decision. Chances are BMW has deeper pockets so that route isn't pretty...
