Service frequency

Hi all,

Was wondering if someone could help me with a few services questions.

Bit of background around the car, I got it AUC in Jan 2018 and it's a 65 330D touring.

The first service happened outside my ownership at the 18k mile mark on the 30.03.2017 then I took it in for its second service after a trip to Germany with it at the 36k mile mark on 20.09.2018. However now the trip computer is saying I should next get it serviced after either another 10k miles or in Jan 2019. Jan 2019 seems too early to me especially since I only done it Sep this year? Does the car really think I'm going to do 10k miles by then?

My commute to work is only a 20 mile round trip. Does this not help the 330D engine? Should I take it on a longer drive on the weekend? Or does it not actually matter that much?

I imagine that the Jan 19 service might be just a brake fluid change at 3 years old. You can check what the actual service requirements are in the iDrive.

It's not just a CBS service though, the idrive tells you about MOT and brake fluid services as well, on Jan 2019 the car will need what it calls a statutory inspection (MOT) etc....

IIRC look at the service requirements in idrive and it should tell you what is needed when.

(JD has just posted the same above)

That makes sense. For some reason I completely forgot about an MOT as my previous car was new and never had put it in for an MOT whilst I owned it. I didn't know the idrive provided that much detail so will look when I'm back in the car

Thanks both!
