B Pillar Removal - Interior
Hi guys.
I did a dash cam run in my F31 and just wanted to confirm the process of removing the B-Pillar internal trim. See: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...6&postcount=24 (specifically the last picture). To summarise, do I just undo the B pillar from the bottom in order to remove the top piece, or can I squeeze the dash cam cables into the trim somehow? Just didn't want to force the issue if it isn't actually possible. Looking at RealOEM it looks like the top piece of trim is angled so you can't just simply squeeze between that gap? Any insight would be appreciated. |

You absolutely don't need to remove ANY trim to run the wiring for dashcam.
I recently installed a BlackVue900 2CH - simply used the included nylon pry tool along with others I had from another set to tuck all wires under the trim. That linked install shows the wire visible across top of B pillar - he obviously didn't know what he was doing because it tucks behind there perfectly hidden without removing the trim I used Blendmount Mirror Mount for my install as it is the cleanest, least intrusive way of mounting. Run from front camera up behind mirror housing into headliner, across front edge of headliner, across joint @ A pillar, down headliner to B pillar, across B pillar, down headliner to rear corner of window, across trim to behind rear seat bolster & into trunk for power Branch off rear camera wire to go along rear edge of headliner to center hi mount light housing, then to camera Obviously this is for F32 - F30 would be different...

Hi guys. Definitely worked this out.
I did find an exploded diagram here: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_8543 The link was actually my install notes hence the reason for asking whether you needed to remove to get past the bevel edge. If you pry hard enough, you can squeeze the cable in which is what I eventually did. As it was a self install, I did not know how hard I could push up there. F32's B Pilar assembly is different, but you should still be able to completely hide the cable on a F30/31. I opted not to ram it in as i have heard from other self installers that the coaxial cable was a bit fragile. |

Well, I really wanted to know how to remove the B-Pillar cover itself (both the bottom piece and the top piece) because I need to get to an annoying clicking/ticking/rattling noise that I traced it to be from the seat belt assembly bolt. This guy did a video of it
and it looks like the car is not a F-chassis but I'm willing to bet the noise I am experiencing is coming from the same bolt/washer that is shown in the video. Anyways, any DIY info on how to remove the B-Pillar covers to get to this seat belt bolt would be much appreciated. |

Perhaps you can find instructions in the TIS: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/
Here's the link for my 328iX: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...belts/GxWE9U0O

Guys are you still having an issue with your B Pillar? If so.
1. Remove the panels by the door for both the front and back. When you open the door. The panel that covers the seal and the floor carpet. 2. After that pull the lower part of the pillar trim inwards. Start from bottom. There are 2 panels here lower and top. Top is the one where the seatbelt goes through. So the bottom you remove first. 3. Disconnect the bottom from the top. This is easy it fits in like a socket. 4.Pullthe top one a little downwards, this should pull the clip downwards and the panel from the roof cover. And there you have it. They all come off. 5. This should be 2. But it doesn't affect it that much but you can remove the door seal around the pillar panel. |

I did something like that around my B pillar with my car off and it started beeping on it's own as if it was locking. Scared the shit out of me, i ran the cable around the weather proof to the bottom instead and through the seats just out of fear the airbags will go off.

I tucked my rear cam wire behind the joint of the B pillar and roof liner with no issue. It was a simple process, using a plastic trim removal wedge to open the gap.
