New member F30 335d

Hi all.
New guy here.
I know there are probably loads of other threads on here about the stuff I'm interested in doing to my car but thought I'd start my own to say hi and see what advice and opinions the members of the forum have.... And I imagine there shall be a few different opinions lol.
I'm looking to lower my car a little, add spacers, do away with the back box for a dual exit be it twin or quad pipes.
So id be looking for advice on things like... Am I better with a custom back box like the direnza ones being sold on eBay, a stock 340i box etc or doing a total delete and going for straight through from the cat back??
I know any of these options require a little fabrication of some sort and a dual exit diffuser....again any info on best options would be greatly appreciated
What spacers are best to use and sizes front and back?
I've seen a few people saying to go with the Eibach lowering springs do think I'm going to possibly go with those unless there's any better recommendations
I'm going to add a bigger intercooler and have just purchased a DTUK CRD3+ tuning box from a member on here until it's time to get the car into Stan at Ecotune....So again any advice on best options for intercooler would be great.
Well I think that about covers the start of my thread and lets me get started on introducing myself.
Looking forward to hearing some of the knowledge and advice I'm looking for here and if anyone's got any of the stuff for sale I'm looking for the get in contact about that too!

Welcome!

A lot of the mods I’ve done there. Regarding the springs, does your car have adaptive suspension?

Regarding spacers definitely no more than 12mm front and 15mm rear, and make sure you get full sized spacers, the first ones I bought were smaller than the mounting face on the wheels!

You’ll love the DTUK box, but be warned on setting 7 I got a drivetrain warning a couple of weeks in!

Hi.
I'm assuming it has the adaptive suspension going by some of the things I've read on here and pics people have uploaded with this pic of drive train in sport+ mode etc. Why do you ask?
I'll be ure to stay away from setting 7 then.
Any recommendations on make of spacers?
Do you have the bigger intercooler fitted?
I've seen one on eBay very similar to the Wagner one after having a little search on here.... Priced at £350... I know cheaper isn't always the best option but from what I read this seems to be just as good.
Thanks

Put the last 7 digits of you vin in here, it will tell you all the options your car has, then we can find out if it has adaptive. http://bimmer.work

I have the ACS springs which are more comfort oriented than the Eibach or H&R springs, and with adaptive in sport mode it is verging on too stiff for road use, so I would advise getting the ACS springs if you do have adaptive.

I have Eibach spacers, not the cheapest since brexit but definitely the best.

I have the standard intercooler and it’s absolutely fine, I’ve spanked the car on 30°C+ days and not created enough heat soak to reduce power, with the tuning box on setting 6. Unless you plan on doing track days I wouldn’t bother.

Nah be no track days for me.
I've tried that link and it's coming up error but I'll try it again tomorrow.
I came to the decision of the intercooler after seeing a difference in bhp for some others on here after this sort of upgrade.
Some parts I guess you are better spending that little extra on

Your car doesn't have adaptive suspension so I'd say you'll be fine with Eibach springs. Also I see your car just has the 18 inch wheels, are you sticking with them?

Yeah mate pirelli Pzero runflats. Been thinking of changing them too as I don't like the almighty this when you hit a pithole
Any suggestions on those?
What you running on yourself?
I tried to add a pic as my profile pic but looks terrible.
I'll try and get some up later when I'm home from work and get a bit more time.

Have you seen this intercooler?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-For-BM...53.m1438.l2649

I know it's a Chinese clone, but it looks like the Wagner and surely it can't be that much different inside if it looks the same outside????
Significantly cheaper so maybe worth a try.....

Do you fit an intercooler for the way it looks, or the way it works!?

Hey, the Wagner is ~£600, this is £150, fit it, try it, throw it away if it's shite, no big loss. Big saving if it's good though and there's only one way of finding out....

Lowering springs and non rft’s would definitely transform the car, but a decent set of tyres is going to cost you £800 plus fitting so depends how deep your pockets are.

Yeah I had priced the Michelin pilot super sport 4 and they were coming in at a little over £800 then £10 a corner to fit..... Pockets aren't too deep but I reckon if I spend £2k on the car on the right parts in the right places it's going to transform the car.
Before buying the car I had watched a load of YouTube videos, browsed the forums and spoke to s couple of guys and know from this that an already good car can become a great car.
My last car was X5 40d and before that a 535d stage 2 running 395bhp/ 580ft/lbs which now belongs to my sister

Thanks mate.
Had a look but I've learned over the years too that when you buy cheap you tend to buy twice.
I know what you're saying about buying it and if it's shite then it's no great loss.... I'd be more than happy for someone else to try that out first and let me know how they got on haha
