Thats very interesting as before the only 19's fitted with non run flats were M cars.
(18" non run flats were an option on the F3x on certain models/configurations, but who wants 18's? )
For the G01 X3 M40i you can order non run flats - BMW call them "high performance tyres".

Yes, was looking at that earlier, but seems you can only get them on 20's on the X3.

So if they are calling these non run flats "high performance tyres", does that imply all other BMW factory fitted tyres (ie run flats) are crap "non-high performance" tyres?! (which we've known all along)

It'll be ok, there's plenty of F30's still without ACS springs!

Meh...

Just doesn't sound all that exciting to me, and feels like more of the same. Disguise or no disguise it doesn't seem like it's going to move the looks or design on much either.

Yea I know what you mean, it’s the new technology that I’m most interested in.

Is it me or was that really poorly written?

Confused by the LSD, they're referring to it as torque vectoring, LSD and e-diff all in the same article. Which one is it?

Might as well go buy a peugeot if you want new technology, surely how it drives is more important?

I read it as being an electronically controlled mechanical LSD like the one in the current F80 which can proactively lock and vector torque across the axle rather than just lock mechanically in response to wheel spin.

I don't think it's a brake controlled e-diff as some other cars have had which just use the brakes to slow the wheel down.

Wait a while and get the Apple Car, slated for 2023-2025 - will have all the latest gadgets.

I have nothing to base this on, I suspect it will be a nerd's wet dream and drive like shit.

Well yea I want both of those things obviously. How it looks is way down my list of priorities though.

The identical thread I posted on the G20 forum has been featured on Bimmerpost.com! First time I’ve ever had one of my threads featured!

Couple of strange things though, first is they’ve edited the thread title and added text to the post, and the second is that although it says it featured, I can’t see it on the bimmerpost homepage!?

My questions are - what specs will BMW let the UK have? and how long will we have to wait for all the variants to be released??

It may be referring to the electronic M Sport Diff that the G01 M40i/M40d are getting, seems to be a more advanced/updated version of the e-diff and performance control systems although info on what it precisely does differently is a bit vague

At last BMW are looking at more advanced passive damping characteristics.

From a technical perspective, like what I'm reading about the new design of damping on the G20 suspension.

Having used selective damping (Koni FSD) in an E91, to get supple, compliant and controlled suspension (and it works), I get where they are coming from. BMW's approach to adjust the damping forces towards the end of stroke, different front (rebound) to rear (compression), makes so much sense. Allows for a stiffer 'sport' spring, without the normal compromise we get over smaller bumps and hollows.

Looking forward to testing the G20 M-sport passive suspension, to see if it really works on our broken roads. If it does work on UK roads, this is a positive march forward for BMW.

For me the lack of interest is due to the lacklustre engine line up nothing new or exciting just the same units with small increases in power/mpg.

Same with the car overall a little lighter, a little bigger, a bit better to drive, a few more MPG and a bit more modern.

The interior could move the game on but time will tell.
