awe midpipe vs Catback

Does anyone have a good first hand experience of the awe midpipe vs midpupe+axleback? I'm running the midpipe + stock muffler and debating adding the axleback section to it.

I started with the full catback. I can't imagine doing just midpipe or just the axleback. The AWE axleback has a much smaller muffler than the stock muffler. I would bite the bullet and get the full system. I'm sure the midpipe added a good bit of sound but I'd say you're missing out on some extra volume and a deeper tone.

Did you have to do any modifications for the AWE Midpipe to line up with your stock exhaust? I have the MPE and was considering going for the AWE midpipe as well. Thanks.

No mods needed. Just have to make a cut between stock midpipe and stock exhaust.

Hi Mike,

I am new to Bimmerpost but I have seen your responses throughout the threads and think you provide great insight.

I’d like your thoughts on installing the AWE Touring catback exhaust without the mid pipe on a ‘15 428i. Is the mid pipe necessary? Is the value for the +$500 there compared to stock midpipe?

Let me know your thought. Thanks!

Thank you!!

Axle back will provide a very nice sound on its own, most customers with stock downpipes get the axle back then end up adding the midpipe.

High flow mids provide a louder more aggressive tone for the full exhaust sound,.
