Wow so many feedback/opinions

I've been checking daily to see what everyone point if view.

So far I'm still undecisive. As many have said both of these cars look great. what makes me hesitate in getting the gc is the roofline it bothers me a little (I think),also the height. I don't have passenger, but I'm thinking ahead since I can't predict the future. I will just have to spent a little longer at the dealership and make a decision =). Thanks everyone

For most Gran Coupe converts, the car is lower and wider than their previous 3 Series.

That is how BMW designed it. When you first walk up to a Gran Coupe, it's the first impression it makes on you.

And your car is not a Gran Coupé no matter how many badges you put on it trying to pretend it is.

If you are this infatuated with the Gran Coupé and its owners, dude, just buy one already. Or, perhaps, just leave us alone and let us enjoy our new cars.

If you don't have a passenger why are you looking at sedans? 435 FTW.....or M235. You have the rest of your life to drive 4 door cars.

Sorry, I just love the M428 so much, the stickers are first in my conversion project.

In fact, I have a project in the works to convert my front end to a F36, and am working on retrofitting a hatchback too!

Might as well go all the way and put M badges on it too right? Then may I have the honor to join all you superior F36 428 owners?

Hahaha I know, but in just thinking that what if someday I have passengers, such as my family (the parents and brother). I would definitely run for a coupe but because of this reason I am looking at 4 doors.

I find both cars very attractive, but as previously mentioned the roof line on the back of the 4 just I dont know... if it was like the 3 series man I wouldnt be in this situation hahaha

Aside from the back, the height is also an issue, but then again that isn't really an issue since I did say that I won't be having passengers

If I never have any passenger then coupe all the way, but I think I will have some passenger once in a while lol I care about my passenger comfort too =D

In the end I think that either the 3 or 4 they are both great looking cars

I wish the 4GC would come in a manual. If it did, it would make the 4GC even more attractive. That and the fact that they don't have a nice red for the M-Sport.

I already have a F30 in EBII, which I'm planning on keeping. I was looking at the 4GC and 3 wagon. But both don't have a manual and the colors for M-Sport other than EBII are not very attractive. I wanted a nice red.

I was even looking at a f80, but they got rid of SO...

Wow, wild you can't get Red + Msport with the GC, let alone no manual.

So it's heavier, has less passenger headroom, has less color selection, and no MT option?

No wonder it's cheaper.

Reading BMW's own press releases, magazine quotes, and presentations, and studying the assortment. Clearly they had a strategy to take a line that looked like this in 2002:

3 Sedan
3 Coupe
3 Convertible
3 Wagon

And turned it into this in 2015:

3 Sedan
3 Wagon
3 GT
X3
X1
i3
4 Coupe
4 Convertible
4 Gran Coupe
X4

Roughly in the same ~$40,000 mid-tier Luxury price range, all of similar footprint, several new niche vehicles designed to cater to the same family size in different ways via styling, utility, etc. I could throw the 1 Series and 2 Series up there as well, they didn't exist 13 years ago either, at least in the US market.

In big business you do this all the time. You take the best-selling product with the biggest audience and besides changing it up subtly over time you build new families of products off of it. All these choices are good for BMW and their owners, and despite competitors like Benz and Audi stepping up their game BMW hasn't looked back.

Both cars are great, they are pretty much the same car just different exterior.
Some people may not like the GC because the hatchback looks like a wagon, while some may like it. It's all personal references. If you want the aggressive look, just get spacer/coilover/ or springs.

If you put a 3 Series Sedan next to a 4 Series GC the GC is lower and wider. It's visible, it's tangible, it gives the cars very different stances and feels.

If I wanted to narrow the wheel gap, I could, but it's not bothering me right now so I'm not planning on it. On balance, the Gran Coupe is a beautiful piece of design and engineering and I'm very grateful to own one.

Fix the wheel gap, the car will look significantly better.

Ze4eMCe's car looks amazing for example.

Sorry that wheel gap and ET. I see no stance. I think you might want to stick that Stance sticker on your windows to look stanced.
