I know it's very affordable and easy mod but doesn't it cause drone in lower RPM?

I'm more concerned of getting CEL than failing emission tests. My country is actually not that strict about emissions. If they test me they can forbid me from driving the car untill I get it fixed and then they need to chceck again but the usual annual car inspection doesn't involve emission tests. I mean, if I change my exhaust they might get more interested in performing the test but who knows.

I agree. I couldn't stand the gasoline smell of a catless downpipe. Plus my wife would shoot me. Nothing like a classy European sports sedan that stinks! 😀

No, especially not with a catted DP. Catted DP + res delete is a very tame exhaust setup compared to what most people run.

You can tune out the CEL from appearing, so if you don't need to pass emissions, there are many cheater catted DP options on the market.

What are people using for a resonator delete? I see one from Turner for $200, but dont see much else out of the US.

You use a piece of pipe that any shop welds in its place, should cost <$100 for the shop to cut out your resonator and weld in a piece of pipe. I paid $90 and it took him maybe 20 minutes.

Are you running the stock cat or a hi-flow cat?

Same turbo and/or tune in the before and after?

I installed the awe axle back a couple of months ago. It sounds great from outside the car. Inside, when driving, I was a little surprised it's not that loud. It's louder than stock, but so much of the wonderful, artful sound they designed into that muffler is lost to the car's sound insulation unless the windows or sunroof are down, or you are high in the Rev range. It absolutely does not drone, that is true. Doesn't matter that it isn't valved. It's good as my daily driver. If you also install the midpipe it's going to be even louder and more obnoxious to other drivers neighbirs etc.
I'm afraid you have to go to a drastic length like catless or straight pipe to really really hear it inside the car, and those systems are just obnoxious sounding to me. I don't think there's a better sounding exhaust than the awe for the price.

Yes that video was literally on the way to and back from the exhaust shop... All of the holes in the resonator are what mute the turbo spool noise. I will add a disclaimer that videos always sound louder from behind the car so you can't watch a video filmed from behind like that and expect it to sound that way inside the car. The setup is pretty tame/quiet, but you do hear that inside the car if you are next to a wall or something for the sound to echo off of

I'm catless with an AWE axel back now. Not obnoxious and not that much louder either. My car doesn't have active sound design either but I still find it quiet. I had the performance midpipe on and yeah, a lot louder. If only there was a midpoint between the stock mids and the performance midpipe

Even with catless, you still have to have a window open to really hear the exhaust

Interesting post. Thanks for contributing. I heard the biggest change in sound came from the downpipe but I've never heard this in person so I don't know for myself
