protecting the front end

Was wondering if someone knows what the best course of action is to (temporarily) protect the front part of the hood and the front bumper from rock chips. I'm going to drive a "new" 440i home soon (it's a long highway drive) and don't want to damage the paint if I can avoid it before I get it PPF'd.

I was thinking covering the front end with some kind of tape (that isn't too sticky) or something along those lines.

I'm upgrading from a 430i to a 440i I can't wait. MPPSK here I come! Yay!

Has anyone done this before? Thanks for any ideas you can offer!

PPF, Paint Protection Film. My 335i has 130,000 miles and the front end looks new. My car is an M Sport with the low bumper. Money well spent. I do it with all my cars.

Thanks I'll check it out. I'm going Friday to pick it up so this is super last minute.

I was reading that painter's tape works also.

If it's just temporarily, how about saran wrap? Much easier and cheaper to get and install. Not sure if it's street legal, just brainstorming...
