M-Sport: Well worth the money!
I've seen some threads on the forums which say the lines are not good value and are just cosmetic upgrades, no extra power, etc, etc.
Well I've just finished 3 years in a no-line 328 and now in a 428GC M-Sport, and I disagree completely with this (btw my no-line was not a stripper it had tech/premium/xenons/heated seats, etc). The M-Sport exterior looks so much better, and inside the feel and ambiance of the interior is massively improved: better materials, better seats, trim, etc. Driving-wise, I liked the way my no-line handled, and I was a bit worried the ride would be too hard on the new car but it's the opposite, Much better handling and I actually prefer the firmer ride, feels much better controlled especially on the freeway. Also the M-Sport steering wheel feels terrific and I use the paddles all the time. So if you're on the fence wondering if it's worth paying the extra, my advice is definitely! Especially if you're leasing when you only pay about a third of the full cost of the upgrade. |

You are comparing a 3yo no-line 328 to a new 428GC and you think all those differences are from the MSport?

Apart from the M-Sport line the two are comparably equipped, and my F30 didn't feel old in any way after 3 years in fact the engine got better with age. |

Yep, I'm with you. In a 428i M Sport now, but just got out of a Sportline 328i. Loved how the car felt; engine sounded bad, but performed great.
My 3 had all the same packages as the new one (Tech, Prem, etc). But now I have Driver Asst, and of course the Xenons. Man what an eye opener! The M steering wheel is just awesome and I lightened up the cabin with the Coral Red and Hex. Car sounds much better and the M Sport trim looks worlds better. Loving this car!

I totally agree. M-Sport and Nav are the two options we should not skip, else deep regret will follow .
And yes I do agree the differenc is mainly from m-sport - when it comes to driving experience. |

What performance does M-Sport itself get you over Sportline? |

M steering wheel, shift knob (MT for sure, I don't know how to drive an automatic), foot rest on floor, car 10mm lower. May also be some difference in suspension. But to really do it right, add the MPPK and MPE.

Translation: nothing.
I envy the steering wheel, and maybe the staggered wheels, but that's about it. To me, the options that really matter are DHP or M-sport suspension, sport AT (or NO AT!), and getting the sport seats one way or another. Don't get me wrong, I would go M-Sport if I were optioning out a new one, but I don't have M-Sport envy precisely because there's no improvement in performance or driver feel (aside from that steering wheel). |

Well, maybe that's not entirely true since you can add DHP and sport auto tranny to no line, but the seats make a big difference, and I would really want at least the sport/luxury/modern steering wheel. |

To me msport adds that extra punch aesthetically on top of the added goodies. It was a must for me when I was searching for my f30.

Ya it's like night and day. I went from from a no line f30 to an m-sport and you would be surprised what a huge difference the M steering wheel/shifter/sport seats really make.

In terms of performance, the cars should all be exactly the same. The m-sport is worth it, however it has no bearing on performance.

Of course the difference is suspension.
No line gets a very soft suspension. Sportline/msport have a stiffer and lower suspension. It makes all the difference in the world. Steering wheel, bumper etc are all just aesthetics and personal preference. |

What I meant is it's not the Msport that makes the difference, it's the not being a no-line, being a newer model with a different interior and being a 4 instead of a 3. You are presenting it as if you were comparing a 328 Sportline with a 328 Sportline with Msport. That would probably not be a huge difference. So again, the Msport is nice, but it's not what's making that big difference you are talking about.

Definitely agree - M-sport makes such a big difference in my opinion.
Pair that with an M Performance Exhaust and you'll be very happy

The 4 Series M-Sport front fascia saved BMW for me. The F30 M-Sport looks almost identical to the E90 LCI (follow the lines from under the headlamps down under the center air duct) and after a decade in E9X and F3X product had BMW put another 'swoopy jaw' look on the nose I'd have been out. The 4 Series M-Sport is different, has a boxed design that mirrors the upper half (you can see the headlamps and kidney grills reflect below in the ducts underneath the solid bumper) and is more like an M4 than the 3 Series M-Sport. Point being, you can tell a 4 Series M-Sport apart from all the 3 Series on the roads right now, it looks fresher and more aggressive, its worth the money on that alone. |

I concur. The M-sport package is not a waste and should be the only line offered imo. everything else should just be offered as a mix and match option.
