Excessive wear on 1 tire
These PS4S's were installed new in Jan 2020 on my '16 340i. Front driver has excessive wear and separation. They have about 40k miles on them. Alignment is in spec. Even wear on back tires, no issues. I did have a minor accident on this side which was fixed by BMW certified dealer with all OEM parts. Thoughts on cause of excess wear and separation? I double checked caster/camber and both sides match. Tia!

That's not wear, that's something gouging into the tire or (severe) rubbing, depending on how long it took to get to this point. It sounds like you never rotated your tires, is that the case? If so, it could very well be rubbing then, which would explain why it's only on one tire. Are you running a square setup?
Also, for what it's worth, PS4S tires are only "rated" (warrantied) for 30,000 miles (square set up with regular rotations) or 15,000 miles (staggered, regular rotations). |

Yeah way outta warranty, just want to fix the issue so doesn't happen with new tires. They are staggered and never rotates. Now I see the importance of rotation...catching these issues early. Checking for rubbing now. That's a 245 35 19 on 19" oem and lowered using B16's.

ajrocklin did you check if the tires were contacting any part of the suspension or fender when turned to full lock? Keeping in mind if you check this with the car in the air it's at full suspension droop so in reality there will likely be less room when the car is on the ground. |
