B58 Stage 2 ACN91 engine knock?

Hello all, I just recently flashed to BM3 stage 2 ACN91 octane. I filled with shell 91 by the way all the time (Canadian Fuel sucks)

I just did 3 datalogging, not so perfect logs but there is a knock on 3 runs, but only 1 per run.

Any ideas on what happened and how to fix that?

Thank you

Run with knock:

octane octane and octane... timing is very low, try to use 93 or if not available try to add some ethanol ( 3-5 liters )and log again..

so I tuned down to stage 1 and timing looks better, no knocks so far

do you think it could just be because of bad gas?

Some horrible timing. I wouldn’t push it anymore like that. I had the same problem as you (also live in ca) struggling with timing and stuff. I used Boostane to help with timing and knock. Did that for a good while until I decided to dish out $85 for 5 gallons of VP racing C85 and change to a E30 map.
Luckily after some months of doing that, and spending way too much on ethanol, a gas station with E opened up next town over.

I suggest Boostane if you don’t have any E available ( and I know some forum members are against that because of the change of spark plug color, change your plugs often though. Especially if you’re tuned, they’re cheap and why not have that piece of mind)

Also there’s a log review thread where you can post your logs instead of creating a thread

@alpinweiss340 - I have E available around me (3 pumps with E85). What would be the steps to run E30? I'm also from NorCal and have never run in ethanol before.

1. Flex fuel tune from mhd
2. Flex fuel kit from mhd. But I saw in a Kern417 video that the mhd flex fuel kit isn't compatible with 91 octane fuel and I'll have to get a custom tune?

Kern isn't wrong but you're misinterpreting what he means. The map scales from 93 octane to e50 or some e# im not sure what the upper limit is. Which means in order to run the flex fuel map you wouldnt want to run it with 91 octane.

You can absolutely run ethanol with just the e30 map if you blend 91 octane with ethanol to achieve e30. Don't run the flex fuel map, run the normal e30 map and make sure you mix enough ethanol with 91 octane to be at e30.
