Got CP installed and flashed last week. Stage 1 91.

I've been having weird issues since.

Sometimes the car gives me a really rough start. Sometimes I get some super jerky shifts. The turbo sounds SUPER loud after getting the tune/CP. I thought it was normal at first but I'm thinking maybe it's not...

Could somebody please help me interpret this?

You need to take a propper log first.

Switch over to manual shift mode and put in 4rth gear
Turn off DTC and DSC
Start logging
Get engine speed to 2500 RPM then floor it all the way to 6500RPM all in 4th gear
Let off the accelerator and put back into auto mode
Stop log then send us a link

Also make sure to mention the change of air filter and CEL shortly there after. Did you get a chance to see if the CP has come loose?

I put in a aFe Pro Dry S filter and I got a CEL with code 12001 Air mass too high. I switched back to OEM and it went away.

These logs were taken with the OEM filter.

Sorry for the shitty logs I don't know what I'm doing.

I'll have a look at the CP later today!!

I would suspect your issue is not the filter. I have been running the same filter for over a year with zero issues, including on stock tune/no mods, stage 1 with IC+CP, and stage 2+ with IC+CP+DP. Tons of other people do as well, and i have never heard of a issue from that filter.

More than likely the code and the sound you described previously is from a boost leak or other hardware issue. I could capture a proper log first and take a look to see what the data shows before doing anything else (of course you can physically look at the CP but i wouldnt remove/reinstall until logging).

I just had a quick look at the CP. I pulled on it and it's definitely attached pretty well. Just about no play at all.

It's not flush, but from what I saw on this video
and in other threads it's normal.

I did rev the engine a bit with the hood open and noticed a whistling sound.
Bubb Rubb and Lil' Sis would be happy but me, not so much.

The CP leaks do not typically occur at the TB connection. More often, its the CP to IC connection, and sometimes the boot that connects the two CP pieces. Those are of course more difficult to see, and you typically wont be able to tell just from a visual inspection if there is a leak.

I know from experience even when i had a pretty major leak at the IC-CP connection, i did not have a whistling sound. So to me, that indicates there is an issue. Can you tell where it is coming from? You are most likely letting in/out unmetered air.

EDIT: Not sure what CP you have, but also check the bung plugs. They should be teflon taped and tight.

I’m currently running stage 2 91 octane tune for my local fuel, but considering going to the stage 2 93 octane for the nice TQ increase. I can raise my octane by adding 3.5 gallons of 100 octane fuel at $10.00 a gallon or maybe an octane booster? Is anyone doing this?

octane booster wont really do shit.

100 is an option, or you can throw in a gallon or so of e85

+1 for the E85. Adding 100 octane will work, but it an expensive choice for a daily. Plenty of people do that for track days or other events to clean up timing and raise octane, but for a more economical and daily-able solution, consider adding some E85. I dont think a gallon is enough, 2-3 with the rest pump gas should be good. But YYMV and you will need to test/log.

Can someone look at this log?

https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5e83...0b436f8802b3af

Stage 2 91 octane. I see some timing corrections but in the lower RPMs. I'm running top tier 93 octane fuel. I'm in the northeast so figured the quality is pretty good, but can't get clean logs on the 93 map.

How can I improve this, octane booster? Will switching to the colder spark plugs help?

Thanks

looks pretty good to me. you only had 2 drops in 2 cyls and timing is all caught up by 4700rpm. had you run this log to redline, we'd be able to see if it stays that way, but i bet it would.

Boost control, WGDC, and other stuff looks good. How many miles on the plugs and are they stock? You can try adding 1-3 gallons of E85 for octane.

Spark plugs have about 20K miles on them, probably 3k miles tuned, and are stock. Thinking about switching to NGK 97506 gapped to 0.022". And okay if I can find it in my area I'll try adding a little.

I would say its probably not the plugs, and you might create more issues by swapping to others. I have OEM plugs with 44k miles on them running MHD 2+ 91 and can get logs with clean timing.

For 85 there are a few websites that show stations. The main one i use for stations in CA is the pearson fuels E85 station finder app. Theres others though.

Alright I'll try adding a splash of E85. To try and get an E20 blend and see how that goes.

Got some E85. Switched to Stage 2 93 map to try some logs. Looks like my HPFP is struggling to keep up. Second log the car was having some problems.

on second log, your clutch slip at 3400 rpm, which coincides with 2psi overboost. then your throttle shuts causing havoc on boost control and wastegate duty cycle.

your hpfp definitely takes a dive at 4600 rpm, which could be an indication that you have too much ethanol, but your STFT contradicts that since its within 5%.

what map version on you on? 7.1? if not, do that first.

if you are on 7.1, then i suggest you move to stage 1 map until the temperature rises then you can go back to stage 2.

Similar comments to above. Your throttle closures in the first half of the log are all over the place. That had to feel odd in the car while driving.

How much E85 did you add? Your IATs are quite low. I doubt you would have a problem if IATs were over 60F, so you may just need to wait until summer to run more E85.

You really think its clutch slip? Wouldn't that result in an RPM spike?

I calculated it was about an E25 mix that I put in. These maps are 7.1 versions. I'll try and get some more logs on my way home.
