I use a combination of 0000 grade steel wool and a metal polish. Flitz is my go to. Wipe and buff with an old cotton t-shirt. Done.

I use Griot's Engine Cleaner and a soft brush. Let it soak, brush and rinse. I gotta try the Fitz next see if the results are better.

p21s polishing soap. a quick and easy pickup from most stores that carry detailing products is eagle one. literally used this on my exhaust tips that were most likely never cleaned and after 33k miles i would say i got it 90% clean if not more. i didn't put too much time or elbow grease in it so with the right products and application they will get clean

This isn't the only thread to cover this topic - just scroll down for other approaches.

+1 on P21S Polishing Soap, you don't even need 0000 steel wool with it.

bavarianride , my exhaust is CG Precision, 3" tips. I paint it flat/semi gloss black with high heat paint. When it gets dirty, the area gets a little dull. I drive catless, so the suds build up pretty quick. Using engine cleaner/degreaser from Autozone, spray some on a rag. Wipes right off and it's shiny again.
