EGR fault : solved

EDIT updated Original Post

EGR valve faults .
Been having the Drive-Chain fault flash up recently on cold start ups and the car had felt sluggish in the lower gear changes.

Update :

Originally Fitted a Aftermarket one (not an OEM or genuine). the BorgWarner 710327D (Wahler) supplied BMW for EGR valve purchased direct from Autodoc.
These have a different design when it comes the valve shaft compared to the original.

Problem Solved :

Since ordered a replacement direct from a German supplier that is the same as the original design with the thinner valve shaft. https://www.hubauer-shop.de/en/egr-v...717810871.html Roughly 160 euro posted.

Ran the ISTA+ reset adaptations procedure before install and cleared all faults, running back to how it should be.

For the egr valve always go genuine. I replaced mine with a pattern one (before bmw started doing recalls for it) and got a fault code for the valve not closing fully. I did the adaptation reset correctly too.

Put the original back in and the fault code went away.

Interesting, thanks for the response.
I did go for the wahler brand which is suppose to be the original brand bmw use, how true this is I don’t know.

I would try to remove errors to see if they are permanent or just one off incident.
If they are permanent there should be a warranty for EGR, however, if it has visible mechanical damage due to improper installation this may be difficult.
What's car mileage?

Didn't your car have the recall for the egr?

I fitted it myself and made sure not to damage anything but will try removing the faults as you suggested.

Good stuff. I got a genuine one for £180 from a BMW dealer on ebay for the reasons you discovered with pattern ones (I never buy pattern with important stuff), but in my case it turned out to be a bad O2 sensor. Exactly the same symptoms though. Glad you got it sorted
