Dealer coding for Auto Start Stop - Remember last setting

As with many people, I am not a big fan of the Auto Start Stop, I normally switch it off as soon as I start the car. Reading online, there are tons of post quoting "SIB 12 15 12" that essentially specifies dealers can code "remember last setting" as a part of the warranty coverage (see: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=729556)

I tried to book appointment with a BMW dealer here in town and they quoted me 1.5 hours of labor ($150) to code this in. I even sent them the service bulletin and was informed that "Canadian dealers cannot do this under warranty anymore".

My questions for fellow Canadians, has anyone gotten this done on their F30 recently, and had it covered under warranty ?

I have not had it done, but may I suggest that you try to get them to program this in conjunction with some other warranty work? This way, they can cover their shop tech time with the other job and still take care of you.

I think if you brought it to them with only this issue, they are forced to charge you because BMW Canada is not covering this work. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here. Or they could just be dorks...

Thats good idea madmonkey! I bringing my car in to get them to replace cracked wheel lining/under cover, and getting them to examine the exhaust screech/squeal. If any of that work is warranty, I will ask if they can include the coding.

I am thinking if they are charging $150 for the coding, I will most likely take it to a third party and get it coded.
