Anyone else's Sport Auto a bit useless?

Mine is getting worse. Cars 2 months old and has 6000 miles on the clock.

It just refuses to pull away well, engine revs, rev hold, car crawls for 2-3 seconds and then gets going.

Considering we have an 2013 F type and 2012 Range Rover here both with the same box and both are 100% better to drive.

Shame really as its had two gearbox software re flash's and its no different.

Sorry no such problems with my ZF 8SP. Surely a dealer investigation or go to BMW customer services if not happy?

It's the best auto I've had/driven. There is some turbo lag in comfort mode I notice but the paddles or sport switch sort that. Doesn't it adapt / learn? So is it your driving style it's learnt?

You don't get bloody turbo lag when pulling away from tickover.

The torque converter is allowing too much slip. It's been into BMW twice, both times they agree'd its a bit shite, had two new gearbox maps on it and no change.

As mentioned above, they're the best auto I've driven by a huge margin. Mine is nearly indistinguishable from a friends m3 dct. Yours must have a major issue that isn't software.

Agree, I'd give it to the dealer and not want it back until it's sorted. If they've flashed it already, sounds like hardware/mech issue. How annoying.

Issue is, it works as a car. Just not ideally.

Plus the loan cars from BMW are not something I'd want to do 800 miles a week in.

I may just trade it in for the 640d they keep badgering me to buy.

Have to say mine works perfectly. Ever since I drove a M3 a few weeks ago I've taken to driving around in sport+ lose all the time, to get the sharper throttle and gearbox responses....To hell with fuel economy!

Garage List
Had the auto box replaced on mine, then a few software tweaks to get rid of gremlins but for the last 10k miles or so it's been great.

Hmmm I have noticed lately that it has been holding revs in comfort a tad higher than usual when pulling away up to 30mph. Idle seems noisier too, I thought it was my imagination.

I've been thinking mine sounds worse from 1500-2000rpm, there is a metallic grinding sound a bit like as if you were pouring screws into a pan, worse when still warming. It was always there but it seemed to be getting longer/louder. Doesn't do it in sport as revs are higher, I have also put this "change" down to my imagination

My 335d sounded like this when cold if I pushed it a little

Only thing that mine does that is a bit odd is holding the revs in 1st to about 4000rpm when I first start off in the morning. It only does this once when I leave the lane and pull out onto the road. Rest of the time it shifts up about 2000. Maybe this is normal but it only happens at that one time. And, no, I don't have my foot to the floor ;-)
