Actually, I think the members on this forum take it very seriously. And with the combined purchasing history and experience of all those on there, you weren't keen to hear what everyone is thinking and what ultimately is the truth. No one has said yes, yes, I will buy your car for £42K but everyone has said it's too expensive.

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.

I feel betrayed.

You asked me to code EBT for you when all along you intended to sell it.

It'll take me months to get over this!

Cheers guys!

As a gent I shan't comment on my new wife's lingerie, however I can confirm that the 'lifestyle" wagon will be getting lowered as soon as ACS can get the springs in the country, and book me in for the job!

Is there not a 'for sale' section on the forum? where this should be, not on the main forum.

Some of the points, people are barking on about are wrong.. 4 series discount isn't as big (giving them away) as the 3 series. VAT has nothing to do with used value of a car.. for the umpteenth time!

I do however think the car is over spec'd and the OP is asking too much money, but that is his choice.

Personally I think the guy is a used car salesman - one you wouldn't touch with a barge pole given his attitude. He was selling a 6 month old secondhand carbon a forum where members are well aware of the discounts available on new cars and the prices of used models in dealers. Best of luck to him, if he gets people prepared to pay his prices and put up with his attitude. I doubt anyone on here would buy dustcaps from him.

IMHO, the issue was not so much him selling a car.

It was the fact he came on effectively posing as a new car buyer, with his amazing specced car, looking for someone to code it and possibly upgrade lights etc.

When all time was actually planning on selling it.

When people pointed out prices for better cars on BMW AUC, he claimed to be a successful car dealer with 12 years experience, however could not provide anything to back that up.

His online profile was purely selling stuff or buying stuff cheap and a pretty basic eBay account.

Not where you would be wanting to buy a 40k car.

Personally he got caught out and reacted badly to the fact a number of people stuck to facts and he could not or was not able to.

If it was someone genuine with a car to sell or even if admitted to getting cars and selling with a bit of mark up, then excellent and good luck to them.

However this induvidual came over as bit of wannabe con artist come car dealer.

Must say I don't get the over spec'd comments at all though. Cars have options. If you want them you have them, you wouldn't not order the things you want just coz someone say its too high a spec!

In fairness he says he spends most of his time on the M3 forum. He probably buys and sells more of that high end stuff given the F3x is such a letdown.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say?

He ordered a lot of superfluous options

I don't care for having internet on the idrive when I can just take out my iPhone

They have value only for those who desire to have them

However they only have zero to marginal cost for the 2nd hand buyer

Why would I pay extra for options I don't want when I can get a good AUC with less options/the ones I want for a lower price?

Someone surmised it perfectly earlier on;

Options don't very often add value to the car, but they help sell it

You've summed up what I was getting at. Options are a personal thing. Just because you don't want them or regard them as superfluous doesn't mean everyone does

Agree entirely though re Internet as you mention, maybe the original owner the car was destined for hadn't read the details of what the options meant!
