Dual zone temp controls

Does anyone know if you can link the dual zone temperature controls in the front, its annoying that I have to adjust both to get the right temp?

Why do you need to change both? Just change the one on your side!

On a similar theme.......

I assume there is only one A/C unit and that the different temperatures on each side are achieved by blending cold and warm air and directing it to the appropriate side.
Is that right?

Her indoors likes it chilly (she's at that dangerous age ), but I prefer it a bit milder so I just wondered if only one side is demanding cold is the A/C working as hard as if two were calling for cool?

I think you are going to be dissapointed. The buttons you are used to will not do what you want them to do. Blending is no longer going to be be possible in the future - so I suggest what you need to do is trade it in, get a new model, find one with all the latest buttons and that can go really fast.

And as for the car, thats a different story - you are stuck with that!!!

In cars where this is possible such as the previous model 3 series, it's about a 2c difference allowed between driver and passenger.

I can't believe it's not built into the F3x, it's rather old technology and comes in handy as being a Geordie, I like it set to normal (16c) on my side and passengers seem to like it warmer.

I can't believe you still cant do this on the newer cars compared to my old E92. My missus 2005 MK5 Golf GTi does it, hold the auto button for a couple of seconds syncs them.

Most of the time I have it set around 19c but lately the weather has been cold in the morning so I want to warm it.

How much of a temp difference between driver and passenger does the system allow?

Usually 2c. Much more and you create a tropical storm over the centre console

There are a few quirks.

Someone a while back patents? Why is it my wifes £18k mini had a windscreen heater to defrost like almost every Ford but a BMW can't, pah!

If the outside temp is 0 degrees and your gauge says 19 degrees, the car will warm you up. If the temp outside is 17 degrees and your gauge says 19 degrees, the car will warm you up.

Turning up the gauge won't make it warm up quicker. It just warms to reach that level.

Ditto for cooling.

If 19 degrees is what you like then glue it and leave it, it won't get there quicker by cranking it higher.

Totally agree. Mine is set at 20C and that is its setting virtually all year around, whether freezing or hot.... that is what climate control is all about, IMO.

BTW, 5-series has the ALL button, never used it once in nearly 2-years. I guess it is there for the users who fiddle with the climate controls.

+1

If I wanted added warmth/ cooler air I just toggle the centre switch, red/blue etc

Never really understood while there are settings above 20, that's like getting a bit warm.

Thats interesting its only 2c difference, does that mean the drivers temp control is the primary?
