Wow; that's quite the adventure. Now I feel like a pussy for only being on gravel for like 20 miles or so.

No dirt... but plenty of snow!

Enjoy my car to the fullest. Also maintained and appreciated to the highest of standards.

No regrets

Whenever necessary. Just like my bikes, I keep my cars super clean, but still use them to go anywhere I want to go. Several trailheads here in Colorado are often on narrow/uneven dirt roads. The roughest so far tho was a campground in Arkansas for a friend's wedding. Just had to drive intelligently to avoid bottoming out and the Xdrive was awesome for the really steep gravel sections that looked intimidating. Definitely love the extra little bit of ride height that the Xdrive has. I feel it's just enough to pretty much go off-road in the vast majority of spots that don't need something extreme.

I lived out of my Honda Element for a few years and often camped on Forrest service roads (or random dirt/gravel paths) in the middle of nowhere and travelled to out of the way trailheads. I can only recall two roads out of all of that travelling that I would hesitate to take the F30. One of those would just be easier to use my wife's Jeep on (favorite little camping spot on Front Range), and the other was somewhere in St George I won't be back to.

Spent some time in the dirt this weekend. Not a paved road for miles.

Your photo of the Tahoe sign reminded me of my education on high altitude’s relationship to horsepower. Just out of college in my first new car, a 4 cylinder Ford Probe manual. It was a peppy enough car around town, but on a trip to Tahoe going uphill I had it floored in 2nd or 3rd around 4k-5k rpm barely doing 50 shouting “wtf is happening!!?!??”

I'm really not worried about the lower air dam. I'm familiar enough with the car and how it responds to various crests/troughs that I can pick lines where I won't bottom out or scrape.

Here's a video of me on a particularly rough trail. We had to stop and turn around because the Highlander behind me was bottoming out over the crests and dips and didn't want to go further.

I had some great off road trail footage from this past weekend, but when I popped the card out of my dash cam it unfortunately corrupted the card so I wasn't able to get it. Oh well, I'm probably going back there in a couple of weeks.
