If it still does not work, you may restart unit with usb connected and let it update on boot for the new setting to take efect.

On boot the unit will first search

- external SD for OEM/factory.xml file
- then USB storage for OEM/factory.xml file

Find my previous post which is related to CarBridge. Its an app that can be installed only in jailbroken iphones and you can have any app in carplay today. (I have jb my iphone 5 (stays in car) and have google maps and other apps today). I would recommend to give it a try, and you will stuck in this setup

Nice! Does it boot directly in Carplay via carbridge or do you manually enter it (Could only see it booted in the youtube videos) What about the batterylife of the phone when you are not driving, does it empty out if you dont drive for like 2 days or do you feel like it lasts?

Assume that the value will decrease once Google Maps is available through regular Carplay, but nice to always have it plugged in.

Carbridge functionality is on top of carplay. So it works exactly as carplay.
Yes, when GM is available on ios12 then probably I will use my iphone8 then, which will be faster. I leave it in car with screen off. Without simcard and wifi it stays fine for 2 days. Also, when driving, its charging, so you dont care about it.

ios12 will be released next week, but I am not sure when Google will decide to include its GM in carplay. Lets see...

1) update to latest autoplay app (2018.09.03.1744) from settings
2) go to settings, and hold your finger above software version number for 2 seconds, then lift it and hold it for 1 second for 3 times and you will enter to secret menu.
3) enter key learning
4) find 'enter' button and touch it 1 time
5) click idrive knob back arrow 2 times and you should see the 'enter' button turn in blue - you cannot assign idrive knob but its not a problem, cause you still have a movement very close to that and does not conflict with anything.
6) close autoplay app from opened apps and reopen

Now you will be able to select apps in carplay using idrive back arrow!!!

There are also 2 extra options for mirroring function but have not tried them yet.

Guys, dumb question. When we say go to setting is this setting for the Carplay app (AutoPlayBox) or setting on the main menu ? Not quiet sure which screen or area need to press per say.

Another useful information about carplay dongle is that when your iphone has low battery (on iphone 5 does it at <30%), autoplay crashes. I believe this is related to the issue discussed before that its better if we could find a way to power carplay adapter with external power somehow but have not find a solution yet.

Related to Carplay and the new IOS 12, I downloaded the GM version last night and tried it twice without any issues. This is the final version and will be related to all users next week (now for developers but also easy to upgrade if people want it a week earlier)

So looks like we are set for use of google maps and waze once Google updates these (I read somewhere will also be next week).

I am using AutoBox 2018.09.03.1744 version.

Try it again, this time copy OEM folder to your external SD card root.

If it updated successfully, delete or rename the OEM folder again, otherwise it will apply the factory.xml to your unit after each restart!

It couldnt be a solution to have a double-wired USB-cable? (especially used for external harddrives that requires double usb-power-input)

Yes I could use a variation of this cable. Thats good suggestion.

We need a cable

side1: 1 male usb ---> ugode usb port
side2: 1 female usb --> carplay usb cable
1 male usb --> car usb power port

wacky007 Ive got the dab working with your file now. I also saw.something different when I uploaded the file so it never uploaded mine apparently for some reason. Anyway, it's working now except the annoying usb permission request.

After all the hype about carplay and iOS 12 release next week I am thinking about buying a carplay dongle as well (I have an iPhone 6s).

Any tipps which dongle to buy? I understand there are models with Autoplay app and ZBox app.
