Now past break-in, here comes the changes.

Finally went past the 1200 mile mark, so now I can test and change things

Went out right before lunch to see what kind of 0 - 60 time I could get and only had to do it once to see the car was performing where it should be for that test. I didn't feel the need to keep hammering on it just to try and see how low it would run.

Dyno to get a stock baseline is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Possibility of rain, but I'm hoping that holds off till later in the day and I can get a good set of runs in with temps around 78-82 deg.

Friday the vehicle is scheduled to go back to the dealership to install the MPPK and the ER Chargepipe. Plus there's a remote possibility the exhaust for the car could get there by Friday and they'll install that too. I've decided to go with the Borla ATAK exhaust. Good sound, not expensive, and full cat-back vs axle-back for good flow from the cats. By tomorrow evening I should have video and results from the dyno to add. Back into Mod Hell I go

So what else do you have planned for the car?

Initially to drive the car for a week to 2 weeks after the MPPK and exhaust are on to let everything adjust, then carry it back to the same dyno I'm going to this afternoon and get it re-tested to note the change. I'm hoping my butt dyno will be truthful and I be able to feel the difference, however butt dynos lie more than the real dynos do. Afterwards I could decide to stack more power on the MPPK, depends on results. Not out to build a racing machine, just want good power and reliability. Then I'll look at potential suspension upgrades, and maybe some aesthetics, but performance and handling are my priorities.

Finished the baseline dyno on the car. I used the same business and dyno I have for the previous BMWs, a local COBB shop who has an AWD Mustang dyno. Temp was 82f with 58% humidity. It ended up with 272HP and 274TQ. Fair numbers from a Mustang dyno, but most important a good baseline to work from.

If you have ANY plans for piggy back / flash then save the money on the MPPK. They will be right down the drain then...oh - you have some very expensive stickers then

The purpose for me going ahead and getting the MPPK is two fold. One, there's a possibility I'll be satisfied with the minor add and then concentrate on different areas. Two, since I have a baseline dyno once the MPPK gets in and I drive it for a bit to let it adjust it will go back to the same dyno to actually see what if any change it really made to the wheels. Not only for my sake, but also any other owners who might be considering which way to go.

Plus if I do decide to try and stack, in the case of Dinan's Dinantronics that's made to go with an MPPK car I'll have the different air box (MPPK) and an aftermarket exhaust already on the car. Also as I read in other threads it sounds like a JB1 could be added which would help the MPPK a little with a few pounds of boost.

Besides I think those stickers add 10HP each when attached to the car, so who could pass that simple mod up (cough)

I looked over your mod thread (nice mods BTW) and see that you listed the Dinan tune for your car. Are you running the Dinantronics for the N20 on it, and did you get any before and after numbers with it ?

Thank you for the kind words!

No I do not have the Dinan tune. Since I wrote that I changed my mind a bit and am now leaning towards a flash tune from GSR. They are right up the freeway from me and I have read great things about their tune.

No doubt an ECU flash is the preferred way to go if it's available. The Dinan stage 2 I had in the X1 35i was still an ECU flash. After that's when they started changing to the Dinantronics.

EDIT- Dealership contacted me and let me know the exhaust arrived today so it should go on tomorrow as well when they have the car.

Just picked the car up from the dealership, all maintenance completed. They installed the ER chargepipe, MPPK, and a Borla ATAK exhaust. No doubt the MPPK is in the car as I have the burbles now that can be clearly heard, Sport gauges are to 400 and every setting was back to defaults. Lights, doors, stereo, etc.
With the ATAK I'm actually surprised at how tame it sounds at idle, although a deeper tone, and it definitely sounds different than stock. Didn't get a chance to really get into it yet as we have been getting a lot of rain the last couple of days and it was still raining coming back. May clear off some later in the afternoon and dry out. If so I'll get some video of the exhaust.

So how does it feel power wise with the MPPK compared to stock? On a side note, I'm surprised at the mild sound of the ATAK. I have the Borla S type ("supposedly" the quieter of the two) and it was night and day compared to the stock exhaust. Wait until you do a cold start first thing in the morning....deafening for 20 seconds haha!

That should really make the car sound awesome and give you a nice boost in power

Butt dyno can feel some difference in the pull, the car does feel peppier. BMW should probably sell the MSport this way.

Watching the vehicle's mileage and what I'm seeing real world vs how it's rated. I took a trip when the car was still stock (got past break-in on the trip) and according to the trip computer it got 32mpg at an average speed of a little over 70mph.

I took that same trip again today with the MPPK and Exhaust on the car and didn't see any real change in the highway mileage. It got just over 30mpg with a slight increase in average speed of 72.5

So no discernible difference in hwy mileage after adding the MPPK.

Wasn't sure if the added HP/TQ would be felt in the mileage when I'm "cruising" at 88-90mph because where the RPMs are running there. But it doesn't appear to have made any real change, and hopefully might go up slightly as the car continues to add some miles.
