You can do map switching from the volume button more than just on and off like before.
The shifter light will blink the amount of time based on which map you are on. (Only valid on the AT/DCT).

so just to confirm, you can now do map switching with the JB4 'on the fly' with just the steering wheel controls and no laptop at all ? can this be done while driving or do you have to be parked ? I've got a stock F30 335i with pneumatic solenoid and thinking to go JB4 instead of just Stage 1..

Correct. You don't need the USB cable and Laptop anymore, but it is not perfect yet. So I still use the laptop to confirm my map settings.
I try to not change map on the fly, since you don't want to accidentally switch to a wrong map and damage the car. At least do it during idling still.
