Regarding the 428 question:
The link below shows a 328 exhaust, which should be the same as a 428. A flap actuator is on the parts list. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=18_0974 |

Can someone enlighten me on how to do this golf tee mod on my F30 328i? Is it the same for both 335 and 328? Or in other word, can I just use the OP post as a guide for this mode?
Thanks! |

Finally got a chance to read the whole thread! I decided to go with unplugging the black thing instead of doing the prying springs. I'm just wondering if anyone experience a lost of low-end torque? I read some other threads and quite some people complain about lost of low-end torque.
Thanks in advance! |

i may have gotten this the wrong way?
when i start the car(cold car), its loud as hell, but only smoke and warm air coming out of 1 pipe. after half a minute, i hear the exhaust valve opening, and smoke/heat starts to come out of the second pipe. does it just open halfway beacuse im idling? pretty confused about this, cause i have thought about doing that mod also. |

If you drive in sport mode, it bypasses this anyways (so it's pointless to do in this case). |

{Provided you drive in sport +} So, if I'm in sport +, the exhaust flap is always open? I searched a lot and couldn't find any how to for f30 golf tee mod. This thread has a how to for e92 only. |

I turned on the car, left it running on sport mode while I coded the dimming sensitivity on the mirrors, got out of the car and noticed the flap opened, then I proceeded to unplugged the connector, wrapped it around with electrical tape to prevent crap get into it. I will post back my feedback about it.

My understanding is in sport or sport+ the flap is open. In Economy over a certain RPM (number eludes me right now) it opens as well.
The thread I saw involved removing the motor from the valve, and wiring the flap open. |

It's pretty simple to do. Just start the car and wait around 40-45 seconds until you hear the valve open then just go underneath the left exhaust tip and pinch the clip on the connector to unplug it (hold your breath so you don't inhale the exhaust lol). After that I'll just wrap up both ends with some electrical tape.
I did it when I first got the car but it ended up being too loud on cold starts with a resonator delete so I put it back. |

I started up my car , put in sport +, and waited a minute , then went to check the left exhaust (looking from behind the car) and noticed there was a black circle flap that closed this left pipe.
The right was open. So, I drove around in sport+ 2-3 mins , then checked again, still flap closed. Then I drove 12 mins in heavy sport+ mode, some highway, then checked -- still flap is closed! Wtf - am I missing something ? |

Tried the wire method and the plug method. They’re the same thing.
HOWEVER with the unplug, the valve simply got stuck at the halfway mark (half open/closed) and when I plugged it back in, it didn’t move anymore. Didn’t thrown any codes with many visits to the dealer. (By the way I had the plugs completely secured with electrical tape on both the connector and the valve actuator). So with that said, I manually opened the valve and wired it as in this guide in under 10 minutes. Removing the spring allows you to independently move the valve. Even if you wanted to reinstall the spring, you just need to realign the valve to the actuator. |

At start: Remains closed for about 11/2 - 2 minutes then opens. Eco Pro: well, I can't say I ever really use Eco mode but I find it behaves similar to Comfort except the flap is closed at low RPM. Comfort: flap is open halfway at low RPM, opens fully at (correct me if I'm wrong) 3,000 RPM. Sport/Sport+: Flap is open throughout the RPM range and at idle. |

I had to move the valve manually to line up with the actuator. You pretty much won't be able to move the actuator. If you sit the spring in the groove for the valve and then rotate it until it aligns, it should work. If it doesn't, try flipping the spring. With a little patience it will sit eventually. Just make sure it's not sitting outside the groove, if the actuator moves the spring and it's not in the groove, the spring will fall off. Last edited by Carbon.F30; 04-15-2019 at 04:31 PM.. |

I managed to build a prototype circuit board coupled with a remote to open and close at will the exhaust flap.
Press the first button it will open the flap ie. manual mode Press the second button, it will revert to the automatic engine mode Will post a video soon. |

I have this on my 435 - has a remote but also able to program OPEN/CLOSED to (1) of the programmable buttons on your rearview mirror You can get it configured either way - OFF (default)=Factory Settings/ON=OPEN or OFF (default)=OPEN/ON=Factory Settings Takes about 10min to install & doesn't need to be plugged in to your OBD Port like some others - PnP inline between car harness & valve right at the muffler. Unit mounts to existing muffler bracket bolt https://www.ecstuning.com/b-cg-preci.../0001vsc1~cgp/

Carly for BMW
...It might be less expensive and better value to buy Carly for BMW (Android or Apple iPhones) and their adapter.
