BMW would just get one of these companies to do it anyway.

Not necessarily, some dealerships have trained staff for windscreens.

iirc mine was £955
edit: complete bollocks, just looked at my quote, it was £614 for supply and fit + £15 for upper trim and then VAT on top. £755 all in.

All
New screen fitted by Autoglass at their Croydon dept (literally right next door to Cooper BMW Croydon) Excellent service and Eddie the fitter accommodated my nosy OCD-ness !

I had four new screens on my Z4 over about 6 years and each fitter was pretty accommodating for me being nosey and making sure it was done right.
However over the years I did think each successive screen got chipped and wiper rashes more easily than before... and more wavy (not so noticeable driving but visible when looking at the reflections on it from outside) My insurer lets me choose glass/fitter, so £90 excess vs £50. I’ll be using OE glass for definite in future. |

Booked mine in with Auto Glass. Been a while. Four chips. One crack. Badly pitted. Not available for 3 weeks. What are people supposed to do in the meantime?!

Just live with it, although if the screen was completely screwed then I’m not quite sure what you’d do!

Hmm...this seems to be the Autoglass way. By the way lads, Hello! long time lurker, 2nd time poster here, so play nice . I Called Autoglass over a week ago and the said they'd only give me a non-genuine screen as was their standard practise, blah, blah...I said not god enough and demanded a genuine screen to which they said they'd call insurer for approval...usualy blurb, "but, sir, you must be aware that IF your insurer won't pay for genuine screen they YOU will have to foot the bill...". I nipped it in the bud and called insurer immediately and got genuine screen approval without issue. I then hear nothing for 1 week and got a call from A/G saying that screen is in but can't be installed for 2.5 weeks No joy getting an earlier fitting date through either A/G or insurer. Renewal time is approaching, so i guess I need to be looking around. Annoying thing is, insurer only told me yesterday that i could have it done anywhere, by anyone of my choice then claim costs back First windscreen replacement so have no experience in this. 3 week for a replacement? Bollox IMO. Surely that can't be the going rate?

Need to get it sorted I have a quote from Lloyd Colne to do it but they want £1275! The screen itself is only £366+ VAT they list another £435+VAT for other items then £258+VAT for labour. I'm going to call the insurance company and see what they will and won't do, I understand that fitting a BMW screen to a 10 year old car is a bit over the top but surely a just over 2 year old car qualifies for getting the right kit fitted.

Sooo annoyed! My windscreen cracked badly from a mix of very small stone chip / temperature. Yesterday set an appointment with AG, got a text confirmation from them about teh fact they are coming over tomorrow to replace it etc.
Then 2 hours later they called me saying that "technician called in sick" and my appontment wont happen tomorrow but in... 2 weeks! I politely refused the information and informed the caller that i am still waiting for them tomorrow, as I alreayd took a day off and the car is not driveable in current state. My rant wont make any difference, I know. Any suggestions? |

I’m guessing with that list it’s not happened over night. If you wanted it doing sooner why didn’t you book it in earlier? |

I've got AutoGlass coming a Tuesday 17th. I opted for a repair so hopefully I get to keep my original windscreen.
I've this one right in the middle of the drivers view. Plus I have this one dead centre of the windscreen. I may be being optimistic asking for a repair as there's every chance that they will tell me that I need a replacement. If that happens, what are my options re getting a genuine BMW screen?
