Had considered this more than one time but until yet not pulled the trigger.
Description seems to be easy to install and connect, but not sure if you're be able to exchange that part of the wheel by yourself. Hadnt done this before.

The part of the installation I want to know about is whether it goes around the steering wheel or whether the wheel has to have a section cut out?

The black metal part is dividable into 2 halfs and could be used as a clamped unit over the wheel. You have to remove the leather cover and the foam beneath to make room for the parts plus you have to drag the wires through a to make hole somewhere to route them to the middle for connect.
Even when you buy a ready to install wheel, the upper part of the wheel isnt cutted out, but its removed to make the display unit better fit within this part and its easier to handle.
All in all not a real beginners mod, so to speak.
