In particular the Bridgestone driveguard RFT on a 335GT - will it be a problem? Currently have Continental Conti pro ssr - after about 10k miles they are worn out.

XL tires are typically used on trucks for the ability to handle higher load weights. My Conti ProContact SSR have 22k miles on them and still have some life left.

I see no reason why not. But if they wear out in 10k miles too it's not the tires.

Do you carry a lot of thing in the back? If so, the XL might be a better option.

Maybe, but XL tires are able to handle higher load weights because they can be inflated to higher pressure. Sometimes they're used for cars that track, because of that higher pressure capability. But higher pressure results in a harsher ride. If you don't inflate them to higher than normal pressure the ride won't suffer, but they won't handle extra load either. I can't see needing them on a GT. If you're going to a tire for other reasons and it happens to be XL that's OK, but I wouldn't buy a specific tire only because it's XL.

^^ That hits it on the head. I've used "XL" in situations for towing and once on my 4300lb Impala SS for stiffer sidewalls. But honestly I don't think the GT would need it, even in track situations

Thanks. I went with Bridgestone driveguard non XL. First impression was ok - no difference from the old continental XLs at all.

Hey really curious about this myself as well. After a few months did you notice any difference?
Assuming you went for a 95 tire load vs 99?

A tire that seems to have low awareness, is not XL nor all-season, but is performing beautifully for an RFT is the Michelin Primacy3 ZP. Not usually in stock, but Discount Tire or Big O tires can order. After reading so many mediocre Driveguard reviews online for noise/harshness, I was very happy to find these. If you don't need all season capability, these Grand Touring Summer tires seem to be a top choice.

Correct 95W. So far still the same impression, there may be slightly more noise on the highway, but otherwise haven't noticed any difference.
