Are you sure that it's a good idea? Your state's laws say that the plate "...shall at all times be securely fastened..." and if a cop is willing to harass you for not having a front plate, it seems like he'd just as easily harass you for an improperly mounted front plate.

But the plate would be at the same spot except it would be taped and not mounted, i asked him if i had the plate up by the windshield he said he would have still given me the ticket

I'm not a lawyer, but "taped" doesn't sound like it's "securely fastened" to me, and it doesn't matter whether it's in the right spot or not -- it's not attached in the manner specified by the law. Maybe you'd have a better time getting a judge to believe your definition of "secure" than me, but if I were going to put up a front license plate for the purpose of not getting a ticket, I'd do it properly the first time instead of risking being busted again.

You didn't adhere to the break-in speed of 100mph?

I passed on the front plate on my car. Didn't like the look nor drilling into bumper. It sits in my trunk. Dealer told me someone sells a plate bracket that goes into the tow-hitch mount. Meets requirements of mounting plate without tape (peeling off paint) or drilling into bumper for the normal mounting bracket.

Talking

I'm pretty sure you are simply looking to use double-sided tape, the kind you can get at a hardware store (not double-sided scotch tape) this is tape will be thick.

I remember looking at my ED delivered car and saw it was adhered this way. This bond is quite strong and the front plate stayed on for two full weeks in Europe (with various weather conditions, pouring rain, sleet) and the journey overseas, but after coming back, it came off in extreme rain and flooding in SC, the day after pick up at the PDC. Good thing I still had my rear plate for a souvenir.

So, if you're looking to adhere your front plate with double stick tape, you may want to reapply every month or every other month. It's strong but not an indestructible bond.

Good luck and happy holidays to all.

All things said and done, it would recommend a tow hook license mount (as other members mentioned) which is what I chose to use here in the states (plus, you won't keep on losing your front plate) here's a link if you're interested.

I wouldn't worry about the semantics of "securely fastened". I'm pretty sure no cop would ever give you a second look if you actually have a plate where it's supposed to be. Does anyone honestly think they'd take the time to scrutinize the mounting method? Highly unlikely.

This tape is amazingly effective and holds up well outdoors. Don't use too much or you'll never get the plate off again without destroying it or the bumper. I'd start with a couple of 2" strips and go from there.

Check The F10 forum. The guy did it with a 3M tape. With pictures.
Happy holidays!

I saw this tape at home depot, it has warning on the back that it can damage the surface once removed

Yes, I picked up my car last saturday. Haven't mounted the front plate bracket yet because I have temp plates so I don't have to worry about the front plate for at least another 2 weeks.
But I live in the city and my driving is 90% city, and the dealer said it's almost a guaranteed ticket in the city. So I am looking for an option to put on the plates without drilling holes. And I don't like the tow-hook mounted plates on the side, the whole front bumper looks out of shape with that.

Not sure about the quality and durability of that. Although I like this option since it can be installed in the centre of the bumper without holes.
$130 on amazon.

Forgot about a front plate. I'll pay every ticket rather then putting on a front plate, it's one of the most pointless laws in existence.

Yeah I have seen that before but not sure what kind of mounting holder is that.

I like this one better, manual Show N Go holder. Much cheaper and good reviews.

Agreed, I'd rather pay one time bracket and installation fees and avoid the hassle of getting pulled over AND then also pay the fine.
