Anyone consider a 6 series GT?

Even though I have one of the last 3-series GTs in the US (2019 model year), I am often curious about ”upgrading” to the 640 GT model (G32)- believe 2019 was also the last year it was sold in the US.

Has anyone sat in one or compared? It would be interesting if there was an article or video that compared them in terms of dimensions, driving comfort, performance, etc.

They seem to be even more rare than F34s!

They were updated 5GTs. They weren't produced very long, and weren't cheap, explaining why there aren't many around. Google 640 GT for reviews.

Thanks Bill. I've read and watched many reviews, but looking specifically for folks moving from one to the other.

A few have gone from the 3-series GT and upgraded to the 6-series GT.

It's probably a moot point, for me as I have a 2019 with 35k that I spec'd to my liking and purchased brand new and will probably drive it for at least another few years.

It's just depressing there is no longer a vehicle I care for in BMW's lineup. No more GTs, no more wagons, etc. I've been looking at the Porsche Panamera more and more as a possible replacement car - it never hurts to plan even if its years away . It's still out of my price range but perhaps in a few year's time the Panamera Sport Turismo or even an Audi S7/A7 would fit the bill.

If it was still around and I was ready to make a change the 6GT would have been the one. But I just passed 25k with my 3GT, so I'm not even close to moving on from it.

Too bad the panny is a 4 seater. Rear seats have a center console. I still have my f34 but we also just took delivery of a 2023 Volvo XC90 T8 plugin hybrid. Love that my wife can use no gas on her daily work commute.

What are you talking about? The T80 has a declared 44 mile electric range with 18.8 kW battery. If your wife's office is more that 22 miles (50% of ideal range) away and without charging station, the vehicle will consume gas no matter what, as the battery would need to be recharged on the fly (or if the vehicle will be accelerating heavily from every stop light) - battery is not that large to treat T80 as full EV, esp when it weights 2300 kgs (5100 lbs). It is called hybrid for a reason.

I see these hybrids on highway in Toronto every day. Late fall to late spring time - all running on back-up gas engine to make up for heating and speed.

Apologies for jacking the thread.

I own a 640 GT if you are curious about this car I can completely give you the experience so you can draw comparisons for the rare car you own. flappy bird

That was my next option (hypothetically) if I could not find the 3GT with B58.

I was under the impression the regular Panamera is a 4 seater, the Sport Turismo is what Porsche calls a 4+1 seater? My knowledge of Porsche's is limited, but here a picture is below of the "non center console" arrangement for a very small 5th person.

I don't mind the 4 bucket seats, I am after the slightly extra interior space the Sport Turismo offers.

The 23 T8 gets about 35 miles of range. Her roundtrip commute is less than that. So no it doesn't consume gas on her normal work commute. We haven't had to fill up the tank in over a month and have drove 800+ miles so far. I know it's not a full EV but it works for her commute and most others I would assume.

I now commute in my 328 gt to work. Horrible mpg 😭🤦🏻*♂️

What packages do you have on your G32? I been looking to upgrade my F34 N55 to a G32 but it's been very difficult finding one with the exact specs in the US.

Yes had a 2016 3 series GT which felt a bit basic if I’m honest.

Our 2019 6 series GT feels like a proper luxury premium bmw. Absolutely miles ahead of the 3GT. Also it’s a generation ahead.

It's all a matter of personal perspective. Kiddies of all ages say that the 3GT isn't a 'real' BMW, because it has such niceties as rear seat legroom, a large trunk, easy access to the trunk, and a smooth comfortable ride. They'd find the refinements of the 6GT repulsive.
