Why the 4er was considered with the 3er? Anyway it wouldn't change a lot since few 4er are already delivered...

Im having a hard time understanding how the 4 series is a best selling car in north america- the car was barely released a month or so ago for sales- only a few deliveries have started for MY2014.

Wow, very nice.

I really had no idea that Audi sold so few A4s in the US as compared to the 3 Series and C Class. They don't even make the top 10 here, and are outsold even by the 5 Series and E Class.

Acura does better than some think, thanks to their SUV. The TL is not even under the radar though.

Off topic but I remember having a lengthy F30 vs B8 discussion about:

Leasing
A4/S4 don't make the cut. This list makes it clear that in NA, leasing is not the reason BMW sells more 3 series than the A4/S4. You can shave 50% off the 3 series sales numbers and the 3 series will still make the cut, around number 8.

Exclusivity
I guess one could also read this list and conclude both the A4/S4 are exclusive

RX is the classic soft sprung wife/old man SUV. I does nothing particularily well but it doesnt do anything wrong.

Its just kinda plain and easy to buy and drive. Typical Lexus.

Of the friends, colleagues, and relatives I know with the RX, most are on their second or third. My sister didn't even consider anything else when her first RX lease was up. Lexus forgives mileage overages, offers early lease trade-ins, and discounts for loyalty. It makes it hard to switch to a "better' choice.

Yeah I agree, they do a great job there.

Wouldnt it be cool though to someday have them make real nice cool car that we could all buy.

In Florida, the A4 lease deals competitive with the 328i are for FrontTrack models. To get better driving dynamics with Quattro, Audi loses its lease price advantage. So sales may be good in cold regions, but here in Florida I see the 3-series 5:1 compared to the A4. The A6 is even more rare.

I also dont understand how you can combine 3 and 4 series together.

Do you have numbers for 3 series sedan vs c class sedan?
Because it's the industry standard. A4/A5 sales and grouped together as well as C sedan and C Coupe. The 4 series is a 3 coupe, why would BMW break out another category for sale-it was never done that way before. People should not get so caught up in the number change from 3-4.

There is no indication that 5 and 6 Series are combined here, nor A4 and A5 for that matter. It is that inconsistency that is likely to be the cause for for the questions.

5 and 6 have been traditionally separate, not sure if it is the delta between pricing and or enough differences in the cars themselves.

I don't know why either, but in any case the A4 and A5 don't have the former distinction and the latter is debatable too.

It almost surely does not factor here anyway since the 4 just went on sale, but it will be interesting to see whether this apparent inconsistency is adjusted in the future, or by other sources who report these figures.

I literally see an RX every other block here in Socal. I would assume the major of those RX's sold are here in CA driven by middle aged ladies lol.

Exactly. It's the same damn car. Instead of 3 series coupe they called it the 4. I don't know why people consider this some special new model.

But what about all the posters that continue to maintain that the Series 3/4 are not luxury cars
