TMC US-Car in Germany
Hey,
I've got a US F30 imported to Germany. But I can't receive TMC or RTTI here. I've compared the TMC-Codings with a german car but it didn't help. I seem to miss something there. Could anyone provide me with informations about ALL the codings that need to be done including changing the FM/AM Button to switch Traffic Info on and off? |

As you mention 0.2Mhz to 0.1Mhz range, are you talking about traffic info shown on NAV Map in car or RDDS on AM/FM Radio which can show simple messages (often title/artist in USA).

Sorry, I am trying to assist you, but you are not answering the question to a USA Car owner.
Are you talking Traffic Information that shows up on a MAP.....or are you asking about info that might just flash or scroll across screen? Posting "I'm talking about Traffic Info" could be either of the 2....or neither. |

Sorry, cannot assist you on how it is delivered in Europe but find it strange that BMW places EU traffic reception capabilities in USA Cars. You will certainly need someone with specific EU knowledge to help you out. Good luck. |

I found some Informations about it.
In Germany the Traffic Info is privided in 0.1MHz Steps. This should be coded to change the HU_CIC to ECE (taken from German F30): RADIO_COUNTRY = ECE FM_DEEMPHASIS = 50us ANZEIGE_FREQ = nicht_aktiv Will test it out and post results. |

Correct, exactly what I would post to you for the settings, had worked fine for my reimported 4xx too.
If you encounter any problems, try additonally to switch your country of origin to Australia, sometimes it helps.

Change TI_TMC to aktiv from nicht_aktiv under the NBT Module to enable traffic over FM. Works on my US spec 340 in Germany.

You wouldnt be able to adress the "MODE" switch to other functions as change the music source, same thing at the steering wheel.
The AM/FM also fix, no way to recode an US radio...but we have satelite receivings, unfortunately not into Germany A word to the not functional TMC: At German BMW's the regarding button is active but the radio chooses at least the best traffic channel. Thats absolutely weird, dont know another manufacturer who override my settings. Aside from that: My traffic messages appears the same way, but not automatic, just when Im driving that way with NAV active or passive.

Curious.
Could you also provide a dump of your HU_CIC? That way I could compare the settings. The Buttons reassigned after changing "COUNTRY" to "deutschland". "RADIO_COUNTRY" is set to "ece" - But we set it to "australien" too to test your suggestion. We tested "COUNTRY" to "australien" too, but it also didn't work. TP is there and works. TMC is shown when navigating, but if you go to TMC Menu, there's a message after a long search like "Currently no Traffic Information available". |

If the test with the locator setting to "Australien" wont work, please try the suggestion from yourself with the ECE, 50us and nicht_aktiv. I'll try a dump, but this wont be happen before thursday. Before I forget to mention it: You wont also be able to receive RTTi caused by the US combox, which inserted SIM-card only be able to receive the US radio waves and not the European standard. A change isnt recommended, because you have lots of failure opportunities after installation and recoding.

I drive a US import F32 in Europe (Belgium) for quite some time.
the car was coded when i bought it (not by me) and I do receive TMC traffic info via FM band. I have EU maps as well, radio works fine etc. so dont believe theories...what you can not get is RTTI which is broadcasted via a TCB in the trunk (which is deactivated for roaming by bmw). all connected drive functions will also not work on US car in europe unless TCB is changed/coded and registered at bmw servers. Its expensive and hardly worth it (as mentioned above). sorry i can not tell you what/how the coding was done but rest assured its possible!
