After reading the regulations some 60 days ago, my personal opinion is that they are actually not illegal as Amber tailights are not illegal in USA according to the regulations I have read.

But I am not YOUR lawyer either and do not intend to give legal advice on this subject.

I didn't even think it was the amber lights that were the problem, that's why I asked. From what I've read on various dmv sites, only red and amber can be seen from the rear and brake lights must be red. Thanks

Edit: From pictures I can't tell when you hit the brakes do the amber lights come up too? That could be the issue.

It's stated in every webshop that I've checked (SalesAfter, leebmann24, eBay...).

I've noticed that some people retrofitted on MY13 vehicles, but wasn't sure if some additional actions were needed (except drip tray trim). Thank you for the answer
