Ok, finally had my springs done and not really had a chance to properly test them.

My initial thoughts so far, at normal speeds I cannot tell the difference and felt slightly disappointed if I am honest. I was thinking, have I been had here!

On the way home I managed to drive around corners with more of a heavy right foot and it just stays so planted! No real body roll and alot better feel now. I really need to go for a longer drive to really give a better feedback so maybe tomorrow!

Anyway BMW Oldbury came back and said that Lorcan your timings were well out and it took a lot longer and therefore will need to charge more unless you can discuss this with them. They believe the times given does not include time for the KDS alignment.

Service though was very good and Andrew Hailing provided excellent customer service.
I didn't need to go there and they sorted the courtesy car and free diesel for the duration! I photo'd my driving license and emailed to them. Thats all. Payment was also made over the phone. Excellent!

Anyway here are a few photos of the car. A lot lower at the back but still fairly high at the front.

I didn't get the car back until 7pm and was going out so only had a 10 minute drive. I will try it out properly tomorrow and give a better write up.

Also I took back original springs but not sure why? lol

Usually the dealer would charge the alignment separately and has a fixed cost, so surprised that they are trying to include that in the labour time for the spring change.

Yup I paid for KDS seperately. I also paid more but I was the first on here and so things weren't quite so clear cut.

Also make sure that they've realigned the xenon beam level. Mine wasn't done so had to go back after I realised I was totally blinding folk! At this time of year I went a week till I drove late enough to need the lights!

Ahhh i didnt think about that. I'll ask for them to check that out.

So are you lot saying the KDS alignment should have been charged separately from the £650??

Yes - springs plus 3 hours labour via ACS and then a KDS at the BMW dealer = £600.

Ok well I paid £650 all in from the BMW dealer including the alignment so £50 more than you but I guess BMW labour fees are a lot higher so I didn't do too badly!

For those who already have had their springs done, did you need to wait for the springs to settle? Will it drop anymore?

Yes I think that's pretty fair given the difference in labour rates! By the time I paid the local dealer to sort the lights I ended up paying more! To be fair, Lorcan held up his hands and said they should have checked it, and has applied a credit to my account for my next purchase.

Mine is like yours - very noticeably lower at the back, less so at front. I don't know if it's settled any lower really though since

I will see if BMW want to charge an additional fee to sort out the xenon light alignment then.

Did you require the xenon light alignment after the spring change?

Blimey, thanks for the heads up about the xenons , I wouldnt have thought of that (and I doubt the dealer will too)!!! I'll mention this when I take it in next week. I dont really want to have to go back to that dealership with a 1.5 hour round trip.

My point is ...... it should stiffen up in Sport mode - but it doesnt (not that I cant tell). But if I put it into Sport+ it does stiffen up.

The way I understand it is that is should stiffen up the same in BOTH Sport and Sport+.

Yup, couldn't work out why people were flashing me. There's a sensor on the rear that detects movement of springs. This can go at bit wonky and thereafter needs to be aligned. For me there was no charge.

Any dealer or independent should be checking the lights as a matter of course. I couldn't go all the way back to kings Lynn just for this and my local dealer shafted me on this now I realise, as it's not a difficult thing to sort. Reminded me why I only use them for servicing through my service packs and otherwise avoid at all costs.... A shame when they're only 2 miles away.

And you definitely have chassis and drivetrain selected for sport mode in the idrive settings?
