F30 328D injector insulator padding removal

so what you all think about the removal of the injector padding. im sure it serves as an injector sound damper. but i like the sound so i want to remove it. also the rail the lines and injectors themselves get really really hot to the touch. so should i remove it or best to leave it?

im on a road trip headed to key west from new jersey. i took the padding off before i left and believe it or not the engine response for some reason feel slightly more torquey or responsive. not sure if its maybe because the fuel is entering the combustion chamber at a lower temp since the padding is no longer trapping all that heat over the rail and injectors. and the engine seems to run 3 to 5 degrees cooler. also if you dont listen for it you wont notice the engine louder without the padding with the hood closed at idle. no really noticable difference in sound.

Besides sound dampening, is there any other benefit/use for the insulation?
